Saddam, the internet is a creation of the Pentagon.

I mean I want you to understand this completely.

The entire conception and architecture that is called the "internet" is created by the US government especially; military intelligence.

You have no privacy or anonymity as a factual matter. It is only a question of "if" and "when" your information is only relevant for extraction.

If you have ever taken any fluid sample of any kind and have had it documented at a laboratory (not even necessariy for a medical reason), your information is reflected in a metadata with 100% accessibility powers by the US government.

If you are talking about commercial groups, the only realistic fear is the fact they may use it to inform some other business's desires to better sale something to you. Legally, there has been a lot of development to limit and control the excesses of that which makes it a controllable risk at this time.

Sorry to break it to you buddy.

Also, almost the entirety of research and expansion of technology is funded by the US Government through public research investment.

That means every development at the basis of technological advancement, overwhelmingly having its basis in academia, is directly funded by the US government. There is a lot of conditionality informing that grant money, starting with knowledge, use, and even access to researcher files so the US government can identify and scoop up the brains making the biggest impact.

These private tech companies will then make their own creations and innovations out of that new development----but what that development is, like the internet to begin with, is an architecture already built directly or indirectly by US Military Intelligence.

I mean this is why Conspiracy Theorists make me laugh. It is like 1.) you aren't important enough to worry about this and 2.) It is only the icing thst has you like this? Oh boy, if you only knew.
