The SYL was some superficial colonial project most often led by Italy itself as the controlled Trust Manager designed to prepare Somalis for party politics.

There was no one arrested for "fighting for independence" already guaranteed.

Furthermore, Adan Loow was never part of SYL until single party dominance in 1964, which is also why he missed out on leadership in 1960.

He was squarely pragmatic about Italy and I admire him even more for it.

Historical illiteracy is the only thing that would think otherwise.

You are the one gaslighting right now Saddam just like this whole NGM gaslight. :demonic:

I’m not a big fan of SYL nor do I even rate it. But to doubt some people in our side love and admire the SYL generation is to be unrealistic a bit. I’m a child of the Kacaan and a grandchild of the Marehan Union Party. Adan Loow and Siad Barre were two men with two different ideologies but both I admire equally wallahi. Siad Barre for his leadership style and Adan Loow for his unapologetic Sadeism and nativism in protecting our interests in Ximan and the honor of his country as the same time. I see parallels in his halgan and mines.

I am almost completely naturally and ideologically an Adan Loow protege.

The real one, not the fake illiterate one pushed by revisionism.

Adan Loow was PRAGMATIC, LIBERAL, ANTI-REACTIONARY, ANTI-REVOLUTIONARY, PRO-CONSENSUS/ENGAGEMENT, AND INTERNATIONALIST.

He wasn't some cheap revised feel good story. He was a real leadet informed by difficult choices at a difficult time.

Cheers, there’s no revisionism sxb. Only admiration for his shot heard across the world and his cold heart pragmatism. A man who made his own independent political party twice and didn’t buy into the SYL coolaid deserves my respect. Him and MSB were self made men. All MX great men were. That’s all

Marixmaan and Gubbet: You're both being disingenuous, did you know Osman Yusuf Kenadid backed the SYL since day one? The same man who INVENTED Somalia's first script (Osmanya)?

Back then Somalis used to write the language in Arabic, they would call it wadaad writing, even Sayid Mohamed Abdulle was using Arabic to communicate his poems and writings. But Osman Yusuf never accepted the idea of using a non-Somali script, so he invented one for ALL Somalis, an act of NATIONLISM AND ANTI-COLONIALISM the Kacaan government deliberately ignored and played down.

The SYL - with his permission and full blessing - adopted Osmanya for documentation and tutoring in SYL schools. The script was so popular and successful it was being used in Yemen.

The colonial powers Britian and Italy launched a campaign to destroy the schools and burn all documents containing the script, the campaign also consisted of pushing the LATIN script on the Somali people. Osmanya was the most used script in SOMALIWEYNE until 1972, that is until Siyaad Barre adopted the LATIN script.

What you are both doing now is tantamount to disrespect and deceit of the SYL, they were wadaads that enjoyed full support from all the clans and wanted to Somalia to achieve greatness, c'mon guys, let's stop with the low blows.

Then why did they try to delegitimize Gedo which forced them to start their own party to protect their economic interests? Secondly why did the SYL only benefit Mudug Daroods in particular Majeerteens? But not Juba Daroods? I don’t hate the SYL, I just don’t see the benefit of it towards my region. I respect the Daroods who did especially Ximan MXs and PL MJs. But as somebody from Gedo I don’t see the hype. Lastly, I didn’t negate their contributions, that’s gunimo. Let’s agree to disagree. Siad Barre didn’t benefit Gedo economically, but he set the Italian organization of our gobol right. And my clan laid their lives defending him in the civil war, so I resent the people who demonize the Kacaan wholesale when I have adeers like Iris and Dr. Ali Nur who put their lives on the line for Somalia’s honor in the ‘77 war (Iris) and one (Dr. Ali Nur) who defend the takeover of his region by the anti Kacaan factions in the civil war. Even Gubbet’s adeers were part of the halgan in Gedo especially Gen. Shareeco and Col. Isaaq Bixi, the father of the current Garbaharey MP, Sagal Bixi.

MX - Southern Darood camp
MJ - Northern Darood camp

It's just politics, MJ/MX both claimed the mantle of Darood, OG in Somalia were a non-factor, especially at the time, Kacaan government achieved some great things, no doubt about it, but the administration had a wariness and dislike of MJ and favoured OG/DH, MX and MJ whenever in leadership adopt policies of trying to contain each other, like I said it just comes down to politics.

One thing I can agree with you is the natural order is MX and MJs in Darood camp in Somalia proper. Tampering with that will lead to your own peril. Ogaden have their own agenda which in the long run upset internal Darood power dynamics. They have Somaliweyn as an ideology and that’s bad for business.

FLN of Algeria declared socialism vs France
North Vietnam declared communism vs France.
ZANU and ZAPU were pro communism vs Rhodesia.
When fighting for independence MPLA of Angola declared communism.
FREELIMO socialist leaning vs apartheid backed RENAMO in Mozambique.
Nasser declared socialism after overthrowing the British puppet monarchy.
But Indonesia was different they suppressed communism in exchange for US help against the Dutch.

How can you copy the economics and state infrastructure as your colonial master and expect me believe you fought gumeysi? Sheeko baraley. SYL had the similar ideologies in governance and economics as the people who carved up their lands. Lmao.

Gubbet, am I lying? As far as I'm concerned my clan wasn't a member of the MOD alliance, I don't claim to know everything so I might be misinformed on some things. But let's face it, only MJ/MX matter in Somalia regarding Darood.

Marixmaan, in hindsight it's insane to me how mistaken you guys were in bringing OG into Somalia, everything went to hell after their arrival. Only Mohamed Zubeir matter if we're talking about OG, makaahil and Cawliyaan can hold their own for sure, but looking at their record they're not exactly power projectors.

I don't share your pessimism about Somaliweyne, if it was realised there would be no need for this 4.5 nonsense.

Italy quite literally had a policy of 'Somaliweyne', meaning it wanted to unite all Somali ethnic territories into one state, the British also expressed some interest in this, until the Yanks came in and focked it up for us, if you want to blame someone blame them.

Nigga I have declassified CIA files showing the extent to which the Italians and the British had their agents in their ranks. Others have much worse unseemly deeds in the crates. The SYL is a good foundational myth like Santa Claus. It’s state sanctioned propaganda yes. But we also can’t discount the valiant efforts of some SYL patriots. Hence why I’m more moderate and lenient than I used to be when I was younger. There always be this divide between those who love the Kacaan and those who adore the SYL. And it’s okay to me.
