The present Somali community were muslims ever since they branched off from their cushitic folks. Maybe the emergence of Islam in the horn of Africa curved the Somali out of the larger cushitic people .I am taking that assumption because the present Somali clans are not older than 13th century (1200s)
The Somali (Muslim cushites) and the Gaalla(the pagan cushities). Somali tribes expanded to the West and South pushing back Gaalla tribes in the process.
The proto-Somali Gaalla were driven out of Somali territories by the Somali muslims .The Raaxawayn drove southern Gaala Warrradaya from Bay and Bakool in 1600s .That was after the decline of Ajuuraan which lead to the rise of powerful Raaxawayn clans and Abgaal imaamate .
Iidoor Folkore indicate Yoonis Adaraxman (HJ) was killed by a Galla warrior .His younger bother Barre inherited his wife and she gave birth to Yoonis Barre .The young Yoonis was named after his slain uncle .
Gaal-eri is the largest Ree Biciidyahan sub clan .Faarax Cisman was given the name Gaaleri because of his heroics in the expulsion of Galla from north-central Somalia .Gaal-eri is also common surname in Ogaden clans .
In the early 1800 , Wiil-waal defeated the Eastern Galla tribes of Akishe and Jaarsa (they are now partly somalised) .Ogaden warriors helped their Jidwaaq cousins to tame the Eastern Galla .There is historic poem by Wiil-waal depicting the incident .
In the southern frontiers , around 1860s Ogaden tribes crushed Southern Galla to submission .The grand Ogaden Suldans at the time were Cabdi Ibraahim Geelle (Cabudwaaq ,Ree Guleed) and Magan Yuusuf Nuur (Ree Cabdille,Ree Warfaa) .Ogaden and other expansionist clans dominated Boraan ,Koreey and Warra-daya and that effectively marked the last major land grab conducted by the Muslim Somali against their Gaalo-madow cousins![]()
In Summary, Islam is one of the intial defining factors of Somali-ness after the language and Culture . Before the Islamization and the emergence of “Somali “ community , the powerful Galla tribes and other proto-Somali groups dominted the land . Ogaden Folkore indicate that the wells of Haro-Digeed were dug by tall people with huge physical body features .Guleed XasanWayd Haaruun killed their leader and big bodied community were defeated to extinction .

AJI iyo AJUURAAN was a Somali sultanate or Boqortooyo founded around 1350s in Qalaafe region and subsequently expanded to the entire southern frontiers of the Somali lands. The founders of this Sultanate were Baalcad Absame paricularly Alam Baalcad and Hintire Baalcad .
Aji—the entire southern Somali clans
Ajuuraan-The Gareens of Alam Baalcad Absame
The Four Absame tribes
Baalcad Absame
Jidwaaq Absame
Wayteen Absame
Ogaadeen Absame
The Five Baalcad tribes
Birin-biri Baalcad
Quran-Jecle Baalcad
Xin-Tire Baalcad
Alame Baalcad (founders of Ajuraan Sultanate)
Suurre Baalcad (Joined Oromo centuries ago )
A man called Gareen Adke from Alam Baalcad founded the Ajuuraan Gareenate .

The emergence of large Ogaden tribes such as Subeer,Cawlyahan and foundation Of Jidwaaq Garaadate and Baalcad Gareenate approximately happened at the same era.
Interestingly ,Abgaal clans are divided into Bah Hintire and Bah Ajuuraan .
Wac-Buudhan Abgaal (Bah Xintire Baalcad)
War-Culus Abgaal (Bah Xintire Baalcad)
Harti Abgaal (Bah Alam Baalcad or Bah Ajuuraan)
Now you know that Ajuuraan are Alam Baalcad Absame and Abgaal has maternal connection to Baalcad Absame . Let me go ahead to tell you that Alam Baalcad (Ajuuran founders) branch into two major tribes
Waaqle
Walamuge
Ajuuraan ruled Hawiye lands but your reckless claim that the former Islamized Hawiye is utterly rubbish . Ajuuraan have Waaqle and Abgaal have Aarwaaq and both tribes were equally Muslims .In short Waaq is not uncommon to Somali people except a few young tribes such as Gadabuursi and Iidoor .Unless you are saying only Iidoor and Gadabuursi are the pure Somali , your narrative will not stand a chance .

You dug deep to find the only two MX subs with Waaq in it, just so you can say MX is like Kablalax(MJ-OG) and also has Waaq. Come on every Somali knows Waaq is a Kablalax thing, the quantity of Waaq in Kablalax and other weird names is just too much.
Khalid Waaq is clearly proto-cushetic or Oromo influenced name, however Kablalax abtirsi inconsistency has no end, Dhulbahante and OG apparently are brothers from their mom side but the average OG has like 40+ names to Darood, while Dhulbahante is like 20, it doesn't make sense![]()
also no Og counts 40 to darood, why do you lie buun boy?
the average Ogaden and dhulbahante abtir to darood is 32-33 names
your just pissed that marehan is still langab and several generations older than harti and absame sub cans yet has only 3 degmo in gedo and 1 degmo in galmudug, that is your land on the entire planet
cheer up though, your still slightly bigger than yaryar like Leelkase or awrtable who have only 20 Km of land on the entire earth
i love being here and challenging bulshyt lies and fake news
the smallest Ogaden sub clan has more land and degmos and bah gerri Ogadne sub sub sub clan sultanic history is longer than the entire marehan combine,
example, Bah garri Sayid's AUN sub clan, this clans sultan protected siad barre and other reer deeni marehans as his subject clients for centuries, Bah gerrie ruled them, owned them and looked after until 1970s, a marehan in shilabo would claim bah gerri when others beef with him as he was forced to claim the smallest Ogaden sub clan for protection

also you must explain why fataxul habash book tells us the marehan sultan chief was named Goita Tedros yuhannus a Christin man,

Re: Eritreans claiming marexan
Waryaa stop making your own interpretations of names you have no idea about, Warwaajecle is not Warwaaqjeclo, no one pronounces it that way, Somali clan names are archaic, you cannot simply do a direct translation and what you certainly cannot do is make interpretation without any evidence backing it.
Also you make reference to bicidyahan, and the gaalaeri sub branch, gaal is archaic Somali and it means geel, this is backed by clan names such as ab-gaal father of camel, gaal-jecel which means someone who loves camel as well as living lahjado in the south who still refer to camels as Gaal not Geel. now I can make a more evidence backed interpretation of Gaalaeri, which means someone who chases away camels, in other words someone who camels flee from, both denoting absence of camels and this brings me back to the name Bicidyahan, someone who hunts Bicid a wild animal, Somalis throughout time have held wild animals to be sacred or to be left alone, somalis herd livestock and do not hunt wild animals, infact ugaarsato is a insult in Somali. This Gaalaeri Bicidyahan denotes a under class of low caste among Somalis in the area which they inhabit.
Among MJ herding camel is seen as a prestigious thing, not in the sense of loving camels but in the sense of not having camels, same with having the Somali feature nose, this is because MJ are zanzibarian coastal dwellers by origin who do not herd camel culturally but grew tamir and pillage shipwrecked merchants, it is for that reason their mostly eastern sub branch the Bicidyahan have this weird name, they were probably insulted and looked down upon arrival to the interior herding clans, before they finally stop hunting wild game and started assimilating, Oddly enough they are also the most Somali looking MJ, them are Cumar Maxamuuds, the rest are Jareer.
There you go I just created a more reasonable and evidence backed theory

A name does not make you a muslim or a gaal, it is just a name, and it is a xalaal name, also you added Yohanes you hater, learn Islam before you chat out of your backside, you are committing kufr by calling a Shahid Kufar, your judgement is with allah, cursed be those who defame the mujahidiin.Tallman77 wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 3:56 pmNGM wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 8:54 am Bestplaya

Hirabu AUN was a mujahid, leader of Somalis, chief of MX, General in Adal, both him and his son and probably his off spring were all Mujahidiin, to this day Rer Garad in Babile-Harar live there and their identity is that of the Adalis of yesteryears, they barely engage in clan centered politics, but are Somali first and last.

First of all , there are two Siciids in Dhulbaante Abtirsi , Siciid Ugaaryahan and Siciid Harti .Second , there is a missing link betweeb the two siciids , four generations which are only known to Dhulbaante geneologists.the common dhulbaante person will directly land to Siciid Harti without mentioning Ugaaryahan,Gareen ,Saarays and Facaye Maxamad. .
The missing link is not so well now among the dhulbaante because over 90 % of dhuloz are Garaad Shirshoore .So , basically Shirshore is the second founder of the Dhulbaante nation which is why majority of Dhuloz are not informed about the complete link of generations between Shirshoore and Dhulbaante .
The point which says OGs and Dhuloz had the same mother is plausible but still no one can prove it as authentic info.

The northern and Southern Somalis always had dialectical differences .

Geeldoon——Gaal-Jecel

Geeldoon Xaamud Cisman Jibriil Waafate is one of the prominet Cawlyahan sub clans .
Here is my point , Geeldoon and Gaal-eri are both Daarood sub tribes ,Cawlyahan originally lived in Doollo before they crossed Webi Shabelle in 1750 to 1850s .In short, Gaal and Geel are therefore distinct words in Northern dialects spoken by Dir and Daarood .
Gaal —Diinlaawe
Geel—nooc ka mid ah meesiyada xoolaha la dhaqdo
Gaal-eri —One who drove away the Gaalla
Gaal-kacyo—The place where the Galla were unsettled
Geel-doon—One who admires herding Camels
Geel-bariis —Those who .....
Gaal-Jecel —The Camel admirers (The name is from the Southern dialect )
War-Waa-Jecle or War-Waaq-Jecle are both correct whichever one you choose .It is not even an issue
