Where is Abdiwahab252? He used to have great insight helping me bind this stuff together. Waiting for a severe admonishment from Ustaadh Barabossa blasting me for being a lost, qasaaro ciyaal qurbo with no dhiig :meles:
The Somali Puntites/Macrobians were acclaimed for their magnificent, outstanding architecture and abundance in resources which woahed Greek historian travellers and the Egyptians who went as far as calling Punt the land of the Gods, on top of that they had one of the most advanced powerful militaries which was feared world wide, that's why we have never been fully conquered and subjugated as a people. Punt had many rich coastal trading cities which had advanced ships trading all around the world from India, to the Roman empire.
The existence of Punt can not be denied as many archaeological pharaonic artefacts have been found in Puntland and Somaliland, and some of them were even founded by civilians. Also, it was not Somalis pushing the bricks for the Pyramids, the Puntites were the architects who worked on it's blueprint.

Later the kingdom fell, most likely due to a change in climate (north Africa was a vast green forest only 5,000 years ago) causing Somalis to adapt a new way of life to adapt to the new harsh conditions of their country and so they adopted pastoralism, and even then we had huge powerful advanced empires which subjugated neighbouring kingdoms and had rich trading cities as Mandolorian explained.
Punt existed so far out in time and mostly in my opinion were made of ancient egyptian colony who camped out there. As for the Samaale group they came much later and fled a major war in ancient Egypt where the Ancient Egyptians fell into a major defeat at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar who was a rising emperor at that point in history leading the Assyrians and at this point of history Egypt's glory was coming to a conclusion it was fading empire and it's time was up.

Due to the Assyrian wars brutality 200.000 fled south (according to Herodotus the father of history) following the nile southwards and in my opinion they followed the blue nile all the way to where it begins which is in Lake Tana in north Ethiopia close to Eriterian border and that is where they set up Axum empire meaning from Lake Tana all the way to coastal Eriteria, Djibouti and Awdal.

If you see the Axum artichect it resembles Ancient Egyptian culture.. The Sahoo historians of Eriteria talk about 2 waves that came to the horn and say the first wave were the Sabeans which came there between 1000 and 500 years before the Egyptians arrived fleeing the war. The Sabaens were the people of Queen Sheba they were Yemenites and intermixed with Nubians to create the semetic Habasha people but interestingly enough the Sahoo cite that few centuries later a much powerful and different entity arrived to the horn from the north and they describe them as ''Bellaw'' and say they protected the people and much warlike and created empire in the north. That is the Axum and at that point the Saaho historians say they were people of white complexion much like modern day North Africans. They even say some of the bellew joined the Habasha people and assimilated at later point into them due to religious divide between them at the time of splitting of Axum meaning some became muslim and others remained christians it caused great divide.

The empire later will get introduced to us in the Quran in surahatul fil where Abraha tried to destroy the Kaaba because Axumites conquered Yemen and the yemenites were angered being conquered by an admixture race because at that point they had already intermixed and became an admixture race because they have been in the horn for 1000 years at that point from since 620 BC to 570 AD at the moment the events of Surah-Fil played out.

Abraha technically broke free from Axum and rebelled against Axum by disobeying the orders of Nagesh. There is more recordings of that incident where he bulit a large church in Sanaa etc etc and even meet the prophets gran-father at the gates of Mecca.. the Meccans and Arabs couldn't fight Abraha who had a large army including Elephants and decided to vacate the city peacefully and as you may know the rest is history Allah destroyed him after Abdul-mutalib said infront of the Kaaba this is your house and you have to defend your property.

Fast forward 50 years the Sahaba migrated and landed in Zeila and converts started to appear in the community and fast forward again 250 years I think that is where Samaale was born around 850 AD. Many houses split from the Axumite kingdom and the Samaale was one of them. They had a very weak fiefdom up north on the Eriterian, Djiboutian and parts of North Ethiopia and Awdal. They started to suffer droughts. This is when in early 1000s AD one of them got a dream as their people were in difficult period to take the people and venture to the south between the Shabelle river area. His name was Mohammed Alam Balcad also known as Ibrahim balcad he gathered these of Samaales who wanted to travel and wage the jihad for new lands. All these Samaales between Mudug and Kismayo today were in that group.

The war was extremely tough as they fought not only one group but several that formed an alliance (In Mogadishu areas and some coastal areas in Shabelle Dhexe was a Persian territory and they were using that territory for the spice trade which technically means Mogadishu was founded by persians even the name is persian plus there was another group little bit down south called Tunni who had the Geladi kingdom in Shabelle hoose and Bay iyo Bakool and spoke the Tunni langauge plus there was a 3rd group the Yibir in Gaalkacyo areas which is why it is called Gaalkacyo including Mudug and Nugaal plus there was Oromo in Parts of Galagaduud like their holy city Cabuudwaaq, Hiiraan plus you had another Oromo group in Gedo and parts of Jubba Dhexe little bit of jubbada hoose plus the last group which was in Jubbada hoose all the way to Kismayo was a Sawahili territory aka Kenyans) The war itself lasted decades until the last of them were conquered which were the Kenyans and there cities like Malindi and other Sawahili areas across the coastal areas all the way to Tanzania and Mosambique became Samaale colonies for extracting gold and silver and unfortunately Samaale controlled the slave market at that point until it went out of fashion few centuries later)

Interestingly enough the Saaho historians claim that the Agaw and Tigray split from them including Somalis and also geography wise they basically border each other. They claim that the Tigray aren't actully Habasha but assilimated into them due to religious reasons after the split as they were devoted Christians.

The Saho historians also say that they were extremely different from all the others who came as this group were extremely warlike and violent compared to the semetic habasha who were peace loving and added that the horn have not seen such people before them but didn't harm the residents of the area as they saw them people who needed help and governance.

Their Negash granted an olive branch to the nomadic tribes spread around the area. The reason they were able to build an empire like Axum immediately was due to their experience coming from a long line of dynastic kingdoms they had alot of experience and been fighting for millenniums and involved with politics etc etc.

If you also read Ibn Battuta, Idriis and other arab historians they described them as Berbers? which is strange because Ibn Battuta himself was a berber and berbers were referred to only North Africans. The Arab historians never described somalis as Habasha in their historical records but only as berbers as they knew habasha and somalis were different groups of people and some described them as black berbers but they never refer to somalis as Habasha not even in one place and separate them and Habasha as two completeley different people
