You do know Somaliland has more aid workers and NGOs working there than any other part of Somalia. You also do know that the majority of the hospitals and schools in the region are run by people like Yvette Lopez right. The truth is somaliland can not survive without outside aid, wether you will admit it or not. Almost every country in africa gets some kind of aid and more than half the aid the WB and IMF have allocated for somalia now goes to the riyaal adminstration. Ofcourse he uses that money to build mansions for his wife in Djibouti but that is beside the point.

I never said Somaliland doesn't get aid...and don't flip the script now...you were talking about Aid as in Monetary...so don't sit here and try to talk to me about hospitals now. The economy in Somaliland was built the average Somalilander working 9-5, not Yvette Lopez or anyone else.

Another thing,Yvette Lopez use to run the hospital she did not own it. Are you telling me she does?...


I can name you plenty of Hospitals/Clinics that are owned and ran by Somalilanders.
Can you name me any that are not owned by them? Even taa iska daa, can you name me one major buisness in Somaliland that is owned by a gaal?......

Somaliland doesn't need recognition becuz the day you get recognition is the day ya'll collapse back into inter-isaaq warring and bickering in the fine 'ol somali nomadic tradition. What unites Isaaqs together today is the 'percieved' threat posed by other somalis and prejudice by outsiders as manifested by lack of recognition after 15+ years quest. That is the glue that holds Isaaqland together! Take away that and your house of cards will likely collapse.

If not, and I really hope this to be true after S/land is recognised, the likely scenerio is S/land will stack up international loans that they'll never be able to repay and that will have adverse affect on the economy as it has on other developing nations. Do you want that? One of the main attraction of recognition is it allows nations to apply for loans from World Bank and other international loand lenders. Other then that, what we will recognition deliver? More embassies? Bid deal...you can establish informal relations with countries as is.

So marka, Hannah and S'lander, don't put all your money in one train in the hope it'll take to the promised land. I wouldn't do that.

and Dhuuse no you are totaly wrong, Somaliland is different from the rest of Somalia because we are good at making and keeping the peace.
We already had 2 civil wars with thousends of causalties, but we have peace and are still united.
Infact we are civilized during war for example during the civil war in burco
both sides kept thier heavy artillary out of it even while they were butchering each other, because too many casualties among civilians would make peace harder in the future.

One more reason for recognition is the end of the economic war waged on somaliland, from 93-2000 we used to earn $200 from livestock exports, but thats been stopped due to anti-somaliland influence on the saudis.
