Gurey25, Caydid did alot of bad things- but he is going to be remembered for leading a popular uprising in southern somalia, for ending a dictatorship and for keeping warlords at bay, and for throwing americans out of somalia. There were no Abdullahi Yusuf (he was hiding in Bosaso), Yalaxow, huraale, and the other warlords in somalia when Caydid was alive.
Are you somalidiid? Somaliland-er miyaad tahay? I have no beef with somaliland but I help me understand why you hate us southerners? What did WE do to you? What would you gain from independence? Why are your leaders using the terrorism argument to gain recognition?
Are you in a position to debate this issue?
Give me a reason why Somaliland should leave somalia:
1) Economic
2) political
3) social
4) cultural
5) Ethinicity
My arguments:
a) economy- somaliland cannot be able to stand on its own. It needs trade, investment, public funds to rebuild and history has shown that it had a surplus of economic help when siad barre ruled.
2) Political- africa has already been divided (its fate was made in 1890)- any recognition of somalia would open a pandoras box- and every tribe would opt for independence. Not conceivable
3) Somalis are related to each other. A division of somalia would be difficult- families would be torn apart
4) Cultural- somaliland is known for the advancement of somali culture- and its intellectia is for a union.
5) Somalilanders are ethnic somalis- they share religion with their cousins in the south.
