What about corporate welfare ? Halliburton & other similar companies steal your tax monies. Where is the outrage ? This reminds me of the classic attack by Newt Gringrich on single mothers on welfare. What about the ceeb Cheneys of the world ?

AbdiWahab...Apparently you slept during arithmetic class. So this guy has 5 kids. How does he live in a one bedroom apartment and saves $800 a month? U said earlier he pays $100 a month. So in my calculation he saves $700 a month, not 800. So that'd be 8400 a year and 42,00 a year.

This is assuming his kids don't get sick, he doesn't feed them more than the 3 meals a day, he doesn't pay gas, pay clothing for the 7 of them, they don't go out to eat, pay utilities or other expenses..dude, stop trying to push this lie down our throats. It is true sister that there are single mothers and elderly or disabled people in our community. People who can't earn decent wages or even can't work at all. The system is there for those kind of people. Even though I believe single mothers can improve themselves.

But what we are against is the kind of people that their greed made them wear a diaper and claim they can't control their xxxx just to get welfare. Subxaana Allaah

^^True dat. In America we, muslims who got it bad after 9/11, still have a lot more opportunities than somalis/muslims in europe, australia and even Canada. Specially the midwest is very nice. I have got almost every job i applied for since 9/11 Alhamdulillah.

Canada is not so bad. However the welfare system was getting worse when mike harris was in office. Although a mother of 5 can still collect baby bonus which can be upwards of 250-300 a piece perchild per month. Plus welfare and a clothing stipend once a year they ain't living too bad. Add to that living in subsidized housing and working a payed cash job and your getting by quite alright.

But the question is. It morally right for a Moryaan to collect welfare when he's single and in the prime of his life?

Unclebin..Please don't mention Cayr to me. Any1 who is physically and mentally fit to wor but collects welfare or any other governemt assistance is absolutely disgusting. It's un-Islamic and very un-ethical. If u are strong enough then you should work. Unless u are an uneducated, unskilled single mother or disabled person or some1 who can't find work, then u MUST work.

It's just sickening walahi. One thing i love about Canada is they have free health care system. In america medical bills are outrageous and put people in bankruptcy if they don't have insurance.

Anyone recall the Wisconsin initiative? The State of Wisconsin basically said that to get the next welfare check, you have to put in some hours sweeping the streets and doing menial chores in state offices, and the like. The welfare rolls in Wisconsin dropped dramatically. Peope realized they'd rather get real jobs, rather than work for peanuts. I recall Clinton dodging the question when Democrats in his own Party started questioning him whether this is what he supported. And the fact is that he supported the idea, but diverted media attention from it.

Imagine something like that happening in Canada or other States... Imagine the outcry.

I came to canada with my mother as a single child. My mother left the system awhile back for work and she was a single mom with four kids. I know how many somali's come and say "cayr is a beautiful thing and my mother tells them it wasn't enough and she struggled to get by and thats why she works.
