JB, A few years ago I read somewhere about an indian man marrying his mother and an indian woman marrying a dog. These kinds of stories appear on tabloids. I believe most of them are lies to quinch the desire of westerners who feel other people are primitive and lack morals. Having sex with animals is a tabu (specially in remote areas) and there is something about this story that does not make sense.

Don't you look into their beautiful dumb eyes and think how Somali? don't you marvel at their great udders and `think' in all the wrong places? Don't you listen to them sing and banish Um Kulthum and Googoosh to the bins?
It now appears JB has seen the light and learnt to appreciate goatlove![/quote]
What ever floats your boat,
..
how on earth do you know of googosh

I knew of Googoosh for a very long time.
The likes of these artists say something about these cultures: Old, ancient, melancholic, comatose, dull, boring.
Of course an argument can be made to say that in comparison to western cultures `throw away' music, the continuation shows dignity and resilience and respect.
I believe the former.
But I believe the Somali `balance' is far better. Magool, Baxsan, Gududo Carwo, Sugulle, Kariye, Mumin(2), Said Saalax, Maryam Mursal. We still love them. But we also move on and listen to Zeynab Dhagax(dumbest name I ever heard) and caqaarta(even dumber) and Fadumo Qassim(sickeningly imitatious of bollywood) and Khadra Dahhir (disurbingly, hauntingly good).
Asians do not move on in pop Music. I mean for heaven's sake they still listen to Um Kulthum and Googoosh. what does that say about them?
