error the percentages are still below 2% so that means the surveys are lying, i am sure that aid percentage in somalia is much higher. its a poor country which cannot provide protection, and as we know somalis dont follow islam, cuz if we did, we would not have this epidemic or be in this state as a nation.
all islamic countries deny having a high percentage in aids, all of the Mid-East state under 1%, oh that a lie.
denial will not solve a thing, so when can admit to ourselves that aids is an issue, then we can try to do something, anything.

Re: Somalia AIDS Epidemic
[quote="ERROR"]I don't understand why regions with stability have more AIDS cases per capita!
Northwest aka Somaliland 1.4%
North East aka Puntland 1%
Central South - the rest of the country 0.6%.
ER [qoute]
My guess is they don't have access to all the areas of Central-South like other "regions with stabilitiy", however, this makes it alarming for the south;
"The average rate of HIV infection among patients complaining of sexually transmitted infections in Mogadishu, Bosaso and Hargeisa is 4.3%. Clearly this is higher than the average rate of HIV infection in the general population. STI patients among other sub-populations are one of the most famous bridging groups transmitting the HIV virus to the general population. When examining the burden of curable STI (Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia) among pregnant women and STI patients in Mogadishu, Bosaso and Hargeisa, the results showed average rate of 2.5% among pregnant women. Syphilis prevalence was found to be 1.1% among pregnant women in Somalia.
HIV among TB patients from Mogadishu, Bosaso and Hargeisa showed an average rate of 4.5%. HIV increases the risk of activation of latent tuberculosis and aggravates the disease. HIV among tuberculosis patients is an indicator of the level and maturity of the epidemic and hence the increasing burden of HIVrelated disease in the health care services."
What is the solution? The general attitude of most of us is who cares anyone dying of aids, when others, like kids and the elderly are dying from famine and war? Somali men and their strange attitude towards fornication will make the situation worse in the near future. The authorities led by the Somali Ullemma are the view of only absistence is the solution, and have no compassion for those affected or the spread of the virus. They view it to be a punishment from Allah SWT. This is the latest disasterous chapter unfolding for Somalis, most of them are innocent victims of wives and children.
