screw, the 1st time I heard that song by maryan Mursal it was kinda odd. For once I thought I was going crazy or some1 ws playing jokes on me. I turned my car stereo and there ws this amazing somali song. I said what! and checked if it is a new cd left by some somali thief last nite. but nope, it was the NPR and the program was about African music and singers. Man! that song is real patriotic. it makes u hate every somali who took part of our descent to hell.

Saado Ali Warsame is no nationalist. She was discovered by the late Muuse Ismail Qalinle while looking after her family's livestock, he took her to Hargeisa, married her and inducted her into the glamorours world of Hargeisawood. As for natiolaistic songs, thank the Kacaandiid Isaaq abwaano in Hargeisa Very Happy I heard she is now married to this Hawiye guy who beats her black and blue. I used to be a fan of her, but lost all respect for her and stopped listening to her music when she teamed with that ungaretful, dumb Sangub in his crusade against the "Yac" along with Axmed A Cigaal, too

Kacday Kuftay Maxaad taqaan .............a nice Wadani song with the beautiful voice of Xalimo Magool (AUN)[/quote]

I LUV THIS SONG!!!

It's the "Heesaha Kacaanka", Sung by the Somali Legendary singer "MAGOOL"(Alle ha u Naxariiso), the Aretha Franklin of Somalia!

it was written after "(Alle Ha u naxariiso) Sharmarke's qabiilist" government was destroyed,
and basically the song goes:

--Kuftay dacday ayaad taqaan, ee maxaa taqaan,
--inaan tirnaayo, qabiilada katagnoo, iskutagnaa talo ku goy'noo,
--maxaa taqaan, tari kartaa,
--ayaa taqaan,
--turunturaadloo kuftay, Kuftay! ayaad taqaan!
--talaabsanweydoo dacday, Dacday! ayaad taqaan!
--talaad seegtoo luntay, ayaad taqaan, ee MAXAAD TAQAAN?
--talo iyo xoog iyo tamaradeenoo isutagnaa, talo ku goy'noo, lootaagee!
--maxaa taqaan,
--ayaad taqaan?
--waaloo tartamayaa,
--maxaa taqaan??
--maxaad tari kartaa??

That's what i remember from the song's lyrics, and my somali is not good, so i probably did alot of damage to the song by trying to remember it.

But basically the main Idea is that "Sharmarke's" Government was built on "Who do you know" rather then "What do you know"

So in the song, you will hear the words
"Maxaa taqaan" = what do you know?
"ayaad taqaan= who do you know?

and turunturaadloo=someone who bullshyts alot and speaks alot of meaningless speaches

talaabsanweydoo dacday= literally means couldn't take the first steps, so like a little baby learning how to walk, you have fallen!

talaad seegtoo luntay, ayaad taqaan, ee MAXAAD TAQAAN=
"you have failed to take advice(talo) or other people's input, and today since you've fallen, its not "who do you know" anymore, it's WHAT DO YOU KNOW!

Camel, how do you get that lyrics or your just wrote down from your memory?

Xidigta, why do you have to bring up who founded Saado? You aren't the first one to bring up such story but many other members of your clan. I guess they feel very good about relating to her musical career and achievement.

@DamallaXagare, Sxb, i remembered those from my memory, i really ENJOY "Heesaha Kacaanka" and "Heesaha Siyaasada" they always had double meanings.

#1) Kuftay Dacday had many more underlaying meanings, besides the literal "Kuftay" "Dacday" words, which is self explanatory.

But the most political, metaphorical, full of siyaasad was another song also by "MAGOOL" (hooyadii codka iyo hidaha, Alle ha u Naxariiso),
called:
#2) "Shimbirayahow heesa"

Arrow you won't believe who the Shimbiro(Birds) are supposed to represent??
lol, the shimbiro are the Member's of Parliament in Sharmarke's Government (Alle ha u Naxariisto) who had the MP's repeat after him, "Singing to his tune, and absolutely no voice of theirs"

the song is a very beautiful calm song, that you will never suppose had a double meaning, and both songs happen to be my favourite "Polital Songs" From the days of the "Kacaan" in the Siad Era.

P.S. I can PM you the link to those two Politcal songs if you don't have them.
