I believe the freedom of the individual, and it's up to that individual to run their live how they want,if they want to do the wrong things or make mistakes it's up to them in the West nobody forces women to prostitution or how to dress nobody either forces you to drink alcohol or gamble with your savings,so what I was implying is we need to adapt I slam in the present times at the same time I am not talikng about BIDCA and that the religion should be altered,The Quran is the Quran and the Sunnah is the Sunnah, the kind of things Taliban did was disgrase to Islam like killing people without court of law and dostroying every thing and controlling the society, you don't want a society opressed but you want a free society surely that doesn't threaten Islam and whoever want to practice their religion would do so anyway.

 Islam isn't the answer to solving Somalia’s problems. Somalia needs democracy, justice, and peace for all.
Sorry, but Mogadishu and South need Islamic court more than any other law. Somalis don't have experience in Democracy and democracy in general is western system of law and not Somali system of law.
I wouldn't count handful of warlords, Athiest, Homosexuals, couple of Christains, and couple dhilos gone wild as significant. Somalis are 100% muslims and the only country in Africa that I would recommend implementing Sharia Law...

There is a difference between Somalia and Afganistan. Somalia was once a booming state, most Somalis have an idea what kind of culture and religious practice they want to hold in their households. Also, somalia is more modern in the sense that people have some sense of what the real world is like, they have expectations and they also are divided into various different regions with their own interests....Somalia has a better chance of remaining a torn state for another 200 years before it will become a Taliban like state. Just because the capital region is ruled by the extremists doesn't mean the 17 other regions will have the same fate.

Let's bet on that.
Puntland's Islamist were kicked out of power by Afbiijo/Ethiopia and this time they'll raise up again and join their brothers in the south. That will be an easy task for the Islamists. No bloodshed, but a peaceful transition.
The rest of south will follow the right path in the coming months.
People are tired of the state of lawlessness and the fear of getting killed by the maniac warlords.

LIon, i guess we will ahve to see won't we?
Bmax,
You are right, in fact reer Puntland recently made a secret appeal to tthe US and others to aid them "agianst terrorism", At the end of the day Somalis will still be good muslims but nobody here really cares about having a Taliban extreme government breathing down their backs. But when it comes to the regions other than the capital...puntland, Somaliland, and the jubba regions will side with foreign forces just so they can be in power...religious War has never been about holding religion dear, but It has always been used as means to attain political power.
I predict that within a year most SOmali regions to the south will be in heavy battle....i hope not, but this seems to be the way things are heading
