Honestly I do not see this as a good news. It will only cause more Somali killings... I sometimes think if it was better for the ONLF not to resist the colony. Even their Somali brothers are not helping them. And we all know how now days people are labeled as Argagixiso even though they are fighting for their independence.....

Saying Ethiopia will be an Islamic country is like saying Saudi Arabia will become Orthodox Christian country, it wont happen!

America wont allow it because of the huge importents of the Christian symbolism that is associated with Ethiopia. Ethiopia was once home to the oldest monarchy system I believe and that tickles the fancy of the British royal family and with red necks like Gorge W Bush.

How many men do you think the ONLF has under arms? I just came back from K'ebri Dehar last year. The Ethiopian Army had over 1,000 troops there, along with some tanks and APCs. They had garrisons in Ferfer, Gode, Wajir......and many more. If the ONLF is so bad, why don't they actually control any ground?

What was the excuse in 1930?

Ethiopia is winning because the highlands are much better watered and support a larger population.

The US provides VERY LIMITED military support to Ethiopia and that is more than off set by Ethiopias conflict and current impasse with Eritrea.

Somalia had one short chance, when it had a large armored force, in 1977, to defeat Ethiopia. And the Somalis lost when the Societs intervened on Ethiopias behalf. That kind of opportunity is not going to recur.

If there's anything that will unite Somalis, it's going to be Ethiopia.........

Ever since the days of Imam Ahmad Gurey, Somalis were very independent and unruly, but if you promise them a chance to fight Ethiopians and it gets religiously motivated I think you will see a camraderie like never before.

Somalis have ADHD on a national scale, but Ethiopia is one thing that will get them focused.

What makes for a powerful military? Good weapons, good training, good logistics support. Now, Somalia is a lot poorer than Ethiopia. Why? Water. Ethiopians have it, Somalis don't. There are a lot more of them than there are of you. It's basic math. They have a larger industrial base, they produce their own small arms ammunition (you don't), they produce their own artillery ammunition (you don't) and they have a larger population base. It's as simple as that. Somalis still think that warfare is all about who is braver, etc. etc. It's not. It's about who has better equipment, better training, better logistics support. That can not be overcome by courage, even assuming that Somalis were somehow esspecially brave, which they are not.

That has not proven true in recent history. Ethiopias support for specific clans which support Ethiopias interests has been embraced by many a Somali. Why should that change now?
