Syria wants to engage in this mainly because it has Iran has a back up plan, since syrians and Iranians have this stronge bond. Besides Syria has lost one of it's golden land, Golan Heights, This war will do no good for syria, If Syria really wanted a war they would have fought years ago before Isreali obtained the Golan Heights from Syria. It's pointless from here on out.

Israel obstained the Golan heights precisely because Syria was planning a wr with Israel. If Syria had sayed neutral in 1948 or cut a deal prior to 1967, the Golan would be Syrian right now.

MAD MAC,

See, this whole 2 state thing is hypothetical. So, let me ask you this.

What do you think of the whole incpetion of Israel.........literally forced eviction, ethnic cleansing, expropriation of land..............

OK, we have to be fair here. It's not quite that simple.

By 1948 there were some 650,000 Jews living in the Levant. When the partition of the Palestinian protectorate was decreed by the UN, there was no intent of forced population movements. That started to occur in earnest when the Arabs rejected the UN resolution and attacked Israel with the intent of killing all of the Jews. That was their stated intent.

Now, the zionists with their strange interpretion of historical destiny (is this sounding familiar - Muslims are infected with the same disease) are not off the hook either. They exploited the war to expand their territory, but given the size of the state, that was understandable if not justifiable.

The truth is there were plenty of mistakes to go around. The Palestinians got screwed, but they deserved it.

The UN decreed.........under heavy British lobby.

that's why I'm saying that things must be seen BEFORE colonialism.

650,000?

I've never seen a Jew in Israel whose father/grandfather wasn't born somewhere else.

Well they're out there.

You can't change history. What's been done can't be undone. The notion that a nation the size o Israel is now just going to go away is ludcrous. Anyone can see that.

[quote="Gedo_Boy"]Luckyy,

Truth be told, Americans are 10x braver than the Israeli troops would ever be.

If significant ground troops were required, you would see Americans having to go in on behalf of Israel.

Israel would only go in when the odds are 1000:1 in their favor.[quote]

Cherokee, the shabaa farms are occupied syrian territory too. syria claims it is an occupied lebonese territory though since syria can not reclaim any of the lands it lost to israel in the arab-yahuud scum wars. israel will never let go of golan heights though because it is one of its main water resources.

jews should really be gased. nacala tulaah calaik yahuuds.

Lucky,

I said compared to the Israelis, I'm sure the Americans are braver in ground combat where the odds are more in their favor.

I think historically that is true.......the US had significant ground troops & losses in Vietnam, Japan & Germany in WWII.

I mean these guys are asking the world's superpower to replenish their laser-guided weapons for Hizbollah who is making makeshift weapons on the hills Confused

get me?

Syrian minister: We will join conflict if IDF approaches Syria

By News Agencies

MADRID - Syria will enter the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah if Israel Defense Forces ground troops enter Lebanon and approach Syria, Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Bilal said in an interview published on Sunday.

"If Israel invades Lebanon over ground and comes near to us, Syria will not sit tight. She will join the conflict," he told newspaper ABC.

Following a meeting Sunday with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Defense Minister Amir Peretz said a multinational force should act to prevent the smuggling of weapons from Syria into Lebanon. Peretz also noted Israel has no intention of entering into a war with Syria.

U.S. ally Qatar is involved in mediation to end the war between Israel and Hezbollah, senior political sources said Sunday.

The sources said Qatar, which has not signed a peace treaty with Israel but enjoys friendly ties with it, had intensified its diplomacy in recent days directly with Israeli officials and also with Hezbollah through Lebanese officials.

"The Qataris are mediating between Israel and Hezbollah to end the current crisis in Lebanon," one senior political source told Reuters. The sources did not give details.

Asked for Israel's reaction, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said:
"Qatar is a country that we have met in the past ... If Qatar is working behind the scenes to secure the release of the hostages, that is a good thing."

Ministers from France, Germany and Britain are visiting Israel and will hold talks with Israeli officials ahead of the arrival of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who heads for the Middle East on Sunday.

Qatar and European countries have criticized Israel's offensive while the United States, Israel's closest ally, has resisted growing calls for a ceasefire and joined Israel in blaming the Iranian-backed Hezbollah for the crisis.

Ahmadinejad: Israel pushed button of its own destruction
Iran's president declared Sunday that Israel had "pushed the button of its own destruction" by launching its military campaign against Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad didn't elaborate, but suggested Islamic nations and others could somehow isolate Israel and its main backers led by the United States. On Saturday, the chairman of Iran's armed forced joint chiefs, Major General Sayyed Hassan Firuzabadi, said Iran would never join the current Middle East fighting.

"Israel pushed the button of its own destruction by attacking Lebanon,"
Ahmadinejad told a gathering of education officials.

"Britain and the United States are accomplices of the Zionist regime in its crimes in Lebanon and Palestine," said Ahmadinejad.

He said "the people of the region will respond" unless Israel and its allies apologize for their policies.

"Arrogant powers have set up a base for themselves to threaten and plunder nations in the region," said Ahmadinejad. "But today, the occupier regime [Israel] - whose philosophy is based on threats, massacre and invasion - has reached its finishing line."

In Tehran, the government has sanctioned billboards showing Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah and a message that it is the duty of Muslims to "wipe out" Israel

I'm aware of that, But don't you think this war is pointless, If they wanted to fight Isreali they would've done it long time ago to regain Golan heights.
