Hummmmm....

A noun used to modify another noun. A cheerful readiness, a promptness, a willingness, a briskness of shock. Doesn't make much sense to me.

A fossil Somali Jew? Isn't there a whole clan somewhere in the North, the Yuhuud? (SP).

Gurey???? Gurey??? Gurey??

Too much??How dare you??? How offensive!!!! Mad Mad Mad

Ok...to your question Very Happy .....

What is it that I like in the ouitfits ? Innumerable 'its' . I like the classy resonance that it comes with. It was extremely fashionable in those days.(And today no doubt--if only people were progressed like me & the makers of this epic movie) In fact, it all started in France, they are the monumental beginners of Fashion & Everything pretty! IN a time of conventions, restrictions-- zealous religious people who were shocked by a mere dissipation of wealth or color, those outfits served as an Avant garde soup la Noveu! It was a time where coloful fabrics were introduced to replace the dark, gloomy black--or plain prudish all white cloth! The outfits represent a calm sweet decadent life that has vanished away from the face of the earth! These fine outfits makes one delicate girl -- fly --away --in the sky while she slowly runs ---with her colorful 'Baabiis' in her delicate none laboring hands. The outfits represents class --not as in Sophisication (yes that too)---but Class as in your place in society--Gurey. Evil or Very Mad Those outfits were highly expensive then--it showed the status of the lucky high prominent woman wearing it! The poor & destitute losers will only dream of wearing them! Those outfits are a badge of honor! Aaahhu Mon dieu--Gurey Should i go on Gurey?? Confused Rolling Eyes

oh no poitn taken.

but i find the whole hedonistic lifestyle and promotion of wealth, a bit too wastefull.

like any guy, i would prefer more practical clothing .i.e less clothing Laughing Laughing

honeslty i find the styles from after the Napoleonic wars to be more attractive, 1820's onwards.. your pride and prejudice for example.

Basra,

I remember Marie Antoinette for the ignorance demonstrated by her infamous quote:"Let them eat cake."

And for the reasons for her eventual acquaintance with Mr Guillotine.

At least in my mind, status and glory does not necessarily equal worth.
You may enjoy the pomp and spectacle of these regal events, but keep in mind that there were excellent reasons for the French revolution, which Marie did not survive.

The "let them eat cake" bit was probably made up. The French Revolution was long overdue, but a lot of innocent people (artists, scientists, humanists) were murdered.
