The answer is simply no, if you mean by Southern Somalia , the Italian Somaliland including Puntland then the answer is no. But if you are talking about the area south of Galkaeyo (Hawiye , Daarood borders of Puntland and Southern Somaliland) then yes , they already control 89% of Southern Somalia.

There are no clans that opposed the Hawiye/Dir/Dgil & Mrifile in southern Somali, the few Mareexaan that were settled in this region via the Italians or during Siad Bare's clanist regim in particular Gedo region are nothing but a well armed miniorities, and those can be crushed.

The collapse of the Ethopian proxy regime so called TFG is imminent. The only problem facingthe Islamist is thier fast pace , if they take it slowly and considelate their power and not over strech their milltia the TFG eventually will collapse sepcialy when the mini state of Puntland out of sheer tribal sentiment rushes and assiste their founder Adbilaahi Yuusuf in his fantasy conquest of the south , a mainly Hawiye/Dir/D&M territories.

Essentialy the politics of Puntland and the Xaarti suppoerters of the TNFG is as the following:

2- Support the TNFG under the pretext of Somali Goverment and thus have the entire southern Somalia run by 2 presidents which are from the same sub clan.


Once you understand the tribal scheme and its ramification things will be alot more understandable then mere idealogy conflict as some like to put it, its all about clans dominating one another, one is wearing the Ethopian crusifix (Puntland and its Xaarti) and one is wearing the islamic veil.

A screen is not a deception. A screening force is simply large enough to force an attacking force to deploy into combat formations, and then fights a series of delaying actions. It has nothing to do with "falling for" anything. There is no trickery going on, other than the screening force may attempt to include deception as part of its operation, like any force should.

Galgaduud used to be atleast 80% Mareexaan but today its about 50-50 with us still living in the most fertile and green parts of Galgaduud.
