There is big mis-understanding between the two system i admit. But america has to know that if they think they can destroy radical islamism that easy that it won't happend over night...

One needs to be real carefull to draw the line of radiclism and modernist....Most of us muslims see two radiclism, one that wants to get rid of america and one that is simply doing its obligation of safe guarding its human dignity...America on the other, sees radiclism as one and that's where it over steps and gets into trouble with us mainstream muslims...

I disagree with you when it comes to world economy and its ever changing face, but i will abstain for the time being....

I know you speak English. So you understand what I am writing here, correct?

If you look at these pages on this website, you will see that all Muslims do not share the same opinions about all things - even all Islamic things. A moderate Muslim would best be described as one who is not hell bent to kill anyone and everyone in order to achieve some sort of Islamic paradise. An extremist is one who wants to kill anyone and everyone that stands in the way of his particular Islamic vision.

Simple enough for you?

There is no such thing as moderate muslim. Muslims are followers of islam, And islam follows one path....

Islam is not a religion of contradictions,

Ashlee

By saying that there is extrimist muslim, you are implying that Islam is extreme or there is a extreme form of Islam.

the West have initially used the term "Fundamentalist" after realising the fallacy of this term (there could be no construction without foundations)

they have started using the term "Moderate"[/quote]

I totally Agree, The media used the word Fundamentalist, Well obviously no one can be a good Muslims without following the Fundamentals of Islam. And no doctor can be a good medical doctor without following the fundamentals of Medicine. Nothing wrong with being a Fundamentalist so not they have sort of stop using that word

Do you consider yourself as a moderate muslim because you believe that there are extrimism within Islam. That is what you suggest when you call yourself a Moderate Muslim. Why not call youself a Muslim just like the prophet and his followers,

I want to distance myself from those who send the message of the Islamophobes. Muslim extremists defamed Islam.

In terms of Islamic purity, how would you rate the American Congressman who just took his oath to defend the Constitution of the United States on Thomas Jefferson's Quran ?

What I think of when I hear the word moderate/modern muslim:

Moderate muslim is someone who looks like a kaafir: dresses, shaves and acts like one and wastes his free time in shaleemo, disco etc, lives like a kaafir. Promotes western-style democracy and western culture and shivers when hears words jihad and shari'a. What makes him think that he's a muslim is the fact that his name is Ahmed and he was born in a muslim family and he sometimes goes to jumu'a if he has nothing else to do. They think it's enough only to have faith in Allah in heart.

In todayÂ’s media and in the eyes of the non-muslims;Â…Â…. A moderate muslim is a term given to a person who is muslim by name but lives to please the non-believers while sacrificing his/her iimaan. Moderate muslims tend to conform to the demands of the societies in which they live, burying everything that sets them apart from the rest including their religion. Often they donÂ’t practice the deen and are led away from the worship of their creator in the pursuit of worldly goods and the acceptance of others. They are muslims by name, not by practice and will always seek to make excuses, often creating their own interpretations to legitimise their actions and hide that they have indeed been led astray from the truth.

The true followers of Islam on the other hand (who are often accused of being extremist) strive for justice and fairness, are often humble and modest in their demeanour and seek the betterment of their community while refraining from all the vices that destroy humanity and are forbidden in Islam. They strive to free muslims from the chains of injustice and the evil crimes inflicted on muslims everywhere. As seekers of truth and justice, they strive to do what they can to make a difference to the ummahÂ….placing their faith in Allah and fearing only Him.

The prophet (csw) always reccommended the path of moderation in all things.
Will try to find the hadith.
