the answer to your question is very simple. puntland is richer because it has 100% peace. the state has control of all its regions. it offers its people peace and an ordinary way of life. puntland is a land rich in terms of resources, it has oil, minerals, the longest coast line, and its people are taking advantage of this. boosaaso is now considered the richest city in somalia. because of its port and the huge investment potential.

Buntland is the poorest place in Somalia...

It has the dryest land..its less firtile then the south...and the people in xamar and the south are beeraleey iyo xoolaley..

But people in the far noth east are soo starved that they Risk their lives to cross the sea to arab country is search of food..

When is Oil ..valuable??..when you have the technology and the "KnowHow" of extracting it..

Puntland...has neither of those..so if it was sitting on 100000 billons of dollars..It wouldn't have a clue what to do..

The only way that wealth would be extracted is if they invited a western company to do the extraction ..in which case

A) they would be robbed.... because of lack of knowledge..
B) They would sell out the national tresure...to a forren company leaving the somali people starving and poor...

E.g Sierra leone..

they have plenty of dimond...their people of the country are poor and are being used...as the western country profit from the dimonds..

DO YOU WANT SOMALIA TO BECOME LIKE THAT!!!

I understood from your posts that you have never been to Bosaso... Please visit Bosaaso and then comment about its richness or poverty... Before I saw it I had the same impression.. Not all Puntland is rich though..

Abaayo macaan.... Correct me if im wrong ..Reer bossaso have done well in building houses and Hotel....But the same goes to plenty other somali town...Goldogob,Hargeysa...etc..

Even when UIC had control of Xamar only wth in 6months they rebuilt ...Airpport..dekkada...the major hispital....Universities..and if they had the time that Puntaland had ..we cant imagine how Xamar would look like today....

So my point is....

Puntland is less fertile then The southern Somalia and puntland relies on one port..where as the south has plenty to invest in...

Hobyo, Mugdishu, Marka, Kismaayo etc.

No matter How hard the locals try to put together..their pocket money...It wont be enough to make somalia a wealthy country with out a goverment...

So if you want discuss richness...You need to discuss Goverment and i mean a REAL one!

Puntland has leaders something which other regions in the south dont have. You need a leader to succeed.

Puntland leaders have been able to defeat each other which is important. A party must overpower the other. In the South the power balance is equal thanks to USA and weapons found after the dictator was toppled. But Cheer up now a man from Puntland and traitor have overpowered everyone in the South with Ethiopians and now are gonna rule over you with ''peacekeeping'' troops.

The people that risk their lives to cross the sea into arab countries are not puntlanders. they are southerns. haawiye, ellaay and oromo. no one from puntland would leave their peaceful land only to go to yemen and face something worse. maybe they'd leave but only for europe and america.

There are alot of intellectual and educated puntlanders who are currently getting big oil companies to invest in puntland. in fact the exploration is due to start within a month. and we should see what becomes of it.

you are forgetting that puntlanders are highly educated people. who were ahead of somalis. since forever. somalis are not all nomads you know.

while others kill their own people for greed and ignorance in xamar those in puntland fight for peace and to develope their land.

puntland can and will sell its natural resources because at the end of the day, it will decide whats best for its people and land. and if somalia is sitting on billions of barrells of oil and minerals then lets see it.
