Ammunition availability is, of course, a big concern.

If I were to head back to Somalia now, assuming I could get adequate ammunition, I would probably have to go with the G3. I like the ballistics of the round and the reliability and balance of the weapon. Ditto the M-14.

When I was in Mogadischu in 93, the SNA subjected the UN compounds (including mine at the embassy) to daily mortar fire......I know of what I speak.
