I like the Eritrea's determination to oppose every unlawful action Ethiopia takes

Put it this way.. If Ethiopia never got involved with SOmalia ..Eritrea wouldn't have either..

Ethipia and Eritrea are just fighting their battles in Somalia, we just dont realize that. Ethiopia funds TFG and Eritrea funds anyone against TFG.

The difference is eritrea never invaded, while Ethiopia did, ethiopia wants continued anarchy and choas in the south while eritrea clearly demonstrated it wanted a unified Somalia under ICU, Eritrea never fought somalia while Ethopia did, The opposition Party its creating is a legitimate one without any formal Warlord, which is in the contrary to what Ethiopia is doing, Dont Compare Both states toghether.

The way I see it, Eritrea is the lesser of two evils. Yes, you are right, they never invaded us but creating opposition after opposition is not going to solve Somailia's problems. The end result is us killing each other in our land while Ethiopia and Eritrea supply guns ammunition. Why do we need for Ethiopia or Eritrea to create gov'ts or opposing movements for us with or without warlords This will only create further choas and confusion. Somalis needs to figure out its own problem together with all opposing factions with no meddling from these two countries.

No opposition parties means no contenders, unless you want yeey and stooge gheedi to continue to rule the land, Your poised that this opposition party is somehow going to forcibly overthrow the stooges and cause war but thats not the case, there most likely getting prepaired to contend in the next elections and believe me they will definitly be the favroutes, and keep in mind most of these opposition parties are those that left this Criminal warlord infested TFG and most were in favour of reconciliations with the courts prior to war to avoid bloodshed, if this news is true then Eritrea is doing Somalia a Big favour

I have nothing against oppossing parties, as a matter of fact we need more of them. What I'm apposed to is the fact that Ethiopia and Eritrea makes decisions for Somali "politicians". This is destruction of foreign policy in the making. Why can't these opposing parties form their own legislation without any foreign meddling.

At this moment of time with the current occupation its impossible, they would be killed or there would be attempts similiar to the1 that happend to DR Culusow today, lack of fundings is the main reason, i applaud Eritrea for even using there time and $$$ to a nation thats already doomed and deceased, there sure not angels or doing this for the sake of people, Its just to strategically counter Ethiopian Influences in the Region which is in both nations interest.

PS: That opposition party is rumoured to take part in the reconcilation process, lets see how the TFG reacts on this.

Military, Financial Hardships of the Eritrean Regime

Alarmed by the increasingly high rates of desertion from the conscript army, the Eritrean regime has decided to convert Sawa into a vocational school and construct a new boot camp further from the Sudanese border.



Per day, an estimated 20 Eritrean youth are reportedly crossing the Sudanese and Ethiopian borders.


The new boot camp is expected to be constructed at Mei’ter, about twenty kilometers from Marsa Gulbub, in the [formerly Sahel] Northern Red Sea zone. It is unclear how tens of thousands of new residents are going to be accommodated given the scarcity of water in the area. Mei’ter does not have sufficient water to support its current population—the water is transported from Mae’mide.



The primary appeal of Mei’ter is that it is in the middle of nowhere: 40 kilometers of arid desert separate it from the nearest population center. President Isaias Afwerki, who conducted an inspection tour of the area, is said to be skeptical of the location—but construction work has already been approved.



If the construction is carried out, Mei’ter will supplement Kiloma as the primary boot camp for those serving in the Agelglot, or “National Service.”



Meanwhile, the regime continues to suffer from severe shortage of currency to fund its massive Warsay-Yeka’alo project. Isaias Afwerki, accompanied by the ruling party’s chief of finance, Hagos Kisha, as well as Tesfai Goitom (Gurage), visited Qatar to solicit external funds to finance the construction projects.

The so-called Ritawi Dukan ["fair shops" managed by the ruling party] which were ostensibly set up to combat the artificial shortages created by the allegedly greedy private merchants, have failed to deliver basic necessities like cooking oil and lentils. A staple like Taf is available in small and affordable portions of “sifar” only at the black market for the of 5,000 Nakfa per quintal.



In a related subject, a great number of electronics equipments such as TVs, refrigerators and stereo systems are being held up at Massawa port. The regime used to have a one-item-per-person import policy, but has now prohibited imports of electronics across the board.

Army Rations reduced by 40%

Beginning last week, the Eritrean government has reduced the food rations of the armed forces by 40%. Many soldiers who have seen the purchasing power of their salary (five-hundred Nackfa/month) significantly reduced due to the devaluation of the local currency (1USD=23 ENF) have been selling their provisions of sugar, tea and oil to black-marketers to make ends meet.



There is also scarcity of goods and food products in the market places and prices have reached levels that are unaffordable for most Eritreans. By way of example, a source explains that a ?quintal of Taff costs more than 2,000Nfa now and meat has become a luxury item.?



So far, the rations have not impacted the commanders, many of whom oversee large party-owned plantations, such as Sawa and Af-Hmbol, and receive proceeds of the harvest.
