Re: What is the Somali word for RESPECT
Personally i reckon there is no such thing as being grammatically correct in the somali language, so many words are used in various regions and since the language is not properly documented then we cant really say which is correct or not. The argument that the majority may use a certain phrase or word and therefore it is correct, doesnt really stand.aka-peace- wrote:as far as I know there are two words used to describe this situation*Nobleman* wrote:1_londoner wrote:Lool, Why is Voltage getting so pissed off about the word fiiq? Re: What is the Somali word for RESPECT
clean the floor
clean-nadiifi and floor-dhulka-----so its, dhulka nadiifi
fiiq means peel and diir means skin, fiiq is more general and flexible whereas diir is less general.
i cant believe this was a big deal for some
the Somali script was made by a Reer Mudug named Shire Jaamac AUN but it was NOT for Reer Mudug. Shire Jaamac AUN was a linguist and a very good one at that, so you will see how the literature will comply CORRECTLY and APPROPRIATELY with this somewhat complicated language.
Shire Jaamac accomplished a great thing for all Somalis to benefit, may allah grant him Jannahtul fardows, amiin.

fiiq is totally wrong in this sentence. it has a slight chance to fit into "brush the floor" which translate into "dhulka xaag"

Galmaygaag
I wouldn't have made that remark had I known a Somali word for respect. Conclusion is, we neither have the word nor the action, basically we are an extention of the bunch of savages goring each other inside Somalia.
