This Leelkase langaab (I don't even know where they live) is "teaching" us history of Dir, in particular Ciise, lol. Fact is, there are more Ciise in Ethiopia than in Djibouti and Djibouti's census is a million, with 70% Somali of which 85%-90% of that subset Ciise.

While Zumaale is using actual data from CSA, a Habashi agency that historically undercounts Somalis, he and others are using a rabbit hat to come up with numbers. He is probably referencing Kacaan Statistical Agency data to inflate Darood numbers in Soomali-Galbeed. Even if that were the case, that fake data is stale and frozen in time. Put down the Kacaan unholy book for a second and remove your clans lenses and you'd see what the facts on the ground are.

I have covered this argument on previous threads but If he needs to know the number of Ciise, which is a million or more, all he has to do is do some leg work. Let me give you a heads up Mr. Langaab; use Ethiopia's CSA and Djibouti and international agencies that gather population numbers and you'd find unbiased numbers pertaining to Ciise.

Xamud at the end of the day Ilaahay baa og who's larger but populations in the West is kind of a silly metric to use for population.

The only thing that makes Marehan seem smaller is their clan structure is different, 33 smaller clans Vs huge blocks i.e Maxamed Salebaan, Bicidyahan then...?

Marexaan off the top I can think of these in Reer Isaaq alone, and these clans conflict with entire tribes alone i.e Celidheere Vs Talxe, Wagardhac Vs Salebaan, Celi Vs Bicidyahan, etc.

Reer Isaaq

Maxamed Ammaanreer (Wagardhac)

Hawraarsame Ammaanreer

Talxe Ammaanreer

Cali dheere

Reer Cismaan

Habar Ciise

Fiqi Yaaquub

-Siyaad Xuseen

Yabar xuseen

Cali Xuseen

Reer Diini

In Afdheer zone, six of the districts are settled by Dir subclans. Four of them exclusively. Ceel Kare is Garire, three more are Gurre and Jarati is shared between Awliyahan and the Gadsan Bimal subclan. The Surre settle in Dolobay Woreda and its biggest town Welediya is their main seat.

Bajamal live in Imi. Check the following link for further information.

http://www.africa.upenn.edu/eue_web/Godezone.htm

Quranyoow are one half of the Garre confederation. Mandhera district is their playground.

None of the above clans are small in number as illustrated by how the Guure Akisho subclan woredas have a combined population than Galadi. It is just that folk like you are not that well versed in Southern K5 deegans or the make up of clans such as the Garre or Akisho.

The Mandalug and Obo Akisho subclans are not as numerous as the above clans but the Obo Akisho in particular have a strong presence in Jijiga Zone and have their own district. Check page three of the following link.

Bro, my Reer Apti Isaaq too, HY to be specific. My Awoowo AUN and all my uncles identify themselves as Dir. You are right that many have swallowed the Bani Hashim myth but many also know their real roots. Even on Snet, the divisions between them are evident. Furthermore, Somali historiography, poetry and genetic evidence has dismissed the Arab founding father myth that was propagated in the the late 19th century. Who do you think financially supported the Faqi Maxamed during the Xeerale wars? Do you think Reer Mudug Dirs such as Saacid Indhool would go and fight with the SNM if they did not view them as blood? Why do you think SIsaaq elders and politicians have spoke in up for the Biimal?

Inside Somalia largest sub clans are Isaaq/MJ
Within the borders of Somali weyn : largest subclan will probably be Ogaden, followed by Isaaq(Dir), MJ, Mudulood, Mareexaan/D&M and Habargidir. Followed by Harti, subclans of Darood/Hawiye.

All Somali though
