The Samaale identity is definitely a union of people that have divergent origins. For instance, Gardheere Samaale belong to E-V2 whilst the Meyle Samaales that have taken the test are E-V32. We might be the only ones that are mainly haplogroup T1a. If only we had a breakdown of the clan affiliation of the samples used by the Danish and Norwegian researchers. The jury is still out on Hawiye though because not many of their subclan members have taken the test to make any definitive statements. If I was a gambling man, I would bet that they are also mainly E-V32.

I have never heard of a Dir individual claiming to be anything other than a Somali. Our folklore is replete with Dir being our forefathers etc, that is the respect they always garner amongst Somalis and they aren't known to be Somalis who like to claim of Arab Origin. Zumaale Darood are not Samaale, not all Somalis come from Samaale. Only only Hawiye (including Hawadle etc..) and Dir abtirsi to Samaale.
