Lots of Arabs converted to Judaism in the centuries prior to Islam, so finding Jews with J1 should be no surprise. The whole Kingdom of Himyar adopted it as a state religion at one point, and went to war with the Empire of Aksum for persecuting it's Christian subjects.

The funny thing to think about is, I'm I1, I'm more closely related to Arabs than I am to Celts.

James, wat would be the origin of the other 70%="James Dahl
E1b1b1a1b has the highest percentages in absolute terms amongst the Borana Oromo of Kenya, the Beja, Masalit, and Fur of Sudan, and Somalis. Oromo in general in Ethiopia have a relatively low percentage of about 30% or so in the studies that have been undertaken, but Ethiopian Oromo are the first to admit to assimilating other groups into their own.
I googled and couldnt find anything!
I heard Oromos have a lot of Nilotic/Khoisan/Bantu blood
Mashaa Allah, Oromo is true, blessed African nation
There are many Oromo Clans with nilotic features (the Boranas) and Khoisan features ( some Arsi and Itu subclans).
but I have yet to see Oromos tribe/clan with Bantu features like the much publicized Somali Bantus/jareer/Boon/Tuni.
Probably Bantu feature disappeared due to intensive intermarriage...granpa Oromo had good taste when it came to women

I went with Ancestry.com, I use them anyways for my family's genealogy research and they offered a 46 marker test for quite cheap (only 150 bucks) and you can attach your results to your male-line family tree, something that is pretty interesting. I like their system as well as it makes finding matches for your results quite easy, and you can enter your results manually into ysearch and stuff like that as well, so it seemed like the best option. Unfortunately for me my male line is an unusual and rare one and I couldn't find any 100% matches, apparently I'm a langaab branch of I1 :pVoltage wrote:This is making me really interested to see what my results would be. The best test available is from Family Tree DNA, they offer a 64 marker test for a couple hundred bucks.
Both also offer mitochondrial DNA tests if you're interested in your "hooyotirsi", ie daughter-mother-grandmother-etc line.

Re: So people, when should we do it? (Serious discussion)
Your Y chromosome is probably the least genetically important part of you, and ignores all genetic input from every ancestor of yours other than your paternal line. For 8 generations back you have 510 ancestors, but your Y chromosome is from only 8 of those ancestors. Your X chromosome is from another, different 8 of those ancestors. The other 494 people however have an equal part in your genetic makeup of the other 50 chromosomes that make up your DNA, so this sort of test is relevant from a genealogical standpoint but has no real bearing on what you look like.bareento wrote:James, wat would be the origin of the other 70%="James Dahl

Something happened to my first order, it got lost or something. I waited for nothing.
Just re-ordered, let’s hope this time it will go without any problems.
I ordered two kits this time so I could also trace my maternal lineage

It’s worth it, why should we only rely on the (questionable) oral folklore. It's the moment of truthFirewall wrote:LMAO@ppl paying hundereds of dollars to find out their origins like some adoon![]()
I'm also getting my mother's side of the family tested

Who swears by this shit? Does it really work? Research labs get money from the government to continue their research... If their findings are accurate, the government will continue funding the laboratories and if they're inaccurate, the labs can lose business. You'll never know, the researchers might put a bunch of SHIT in a box and call it your "results" call cuz the government are breathing down their necks.
Re: So people, when should we do it? (Serious discussion)
The government is not involved in the National Geographic Genealogy Project, the only two parties are IBM and National geographics. They just hope to understand human history better with the collected samples. It isn't a for-profit business, just compare their prices with the competitors.sexy-kitten wrote:Who swears by this shit? Any Male Daroods up for it?
The entire clan story will go bust if two of them have different lineages.
