Democrats are smart, they basically win the main population areas and leave the rest to the Conservatives.

Liberal whites are a minority. Romney overwhelmingly won the white vote.

the fact that Obama was able to win with a coalition of blacks, latinos, and some whites shows that the demographics are changing and the Republicans are behind. They can't win Presidential elections by being on the far right or using the Tea Party either...
