I would honestly be team MailMan if he wasn't so angry.

You see I too was taught that the "black race" is a social construct used to lump sum a diverse group of people into a colour coded system, and by who and to what end? We all know there are many groupings in Africa that look characteristically different - San, Pygmy, Bantu, Hamites, Nilotes and Cushite (Just to name a few). Then again these groupings are dated 20th C racial sub-classifications. The only people looking to their skin tone and stating the obvious are mostly Europeans. Perhaps their recent skin pigment adaptation made them take notice.

Why do Somalis always bunch West Africans with Bantus. They aren't the same or even close.

Half of Somalis look straight up Bantu or 'black', with Jareer hair and/or large nose. The other half looks 'East African'.

The only Somalis that look Caucasian is Sheekhal, and some other unmixed clans like Hawadle and Cumar Maxamud.

90% of Somalis aren't 'Caucasian'.

Jamal do you understand what you are saying . Also, why are you assuming all Bantu people have broad features. Perhaps, you are stereotyping as well. Caucasian and Somali used in the same sentence is laughable. I don't know where you've been, or what you've seen. The truth still stands, you can tell a Somali apart from others in a line up.

if you have any knowledge on any african tribe, you can tell them all apart from a crowd...somalis are far from unique...the only reason we think so is because we think every jareer looks the same.

obviously team somalia would win since were all somali and nobody is denying that fact....and blackness is only relevant in the americas (the whole continent)....so you can choose to subscribe to it, or you can choose to deny it...regardless its irrelevant.....end of the day were all somali....but id rather a somali say he was black, then come at me with I'm arab with Caucasian features and hindi Caucasian hair BS looool

KTS since this is a Somali forum and many here have untrained eyes I doubt they can see the obvious differences between other South Saharan African groups. Outside of native Horn of Africans, they can't tell. It's the astigmatism.

Partly the issue.What I find appalling aside from the initial topic is the MISUSE of the word BANTU.

The general consensus here is every NON horner African who doesn't possess softer hair or a more REFINED nasal area is AUTOMATICALLY bantu.

This logic is sickening.Bantu isn't even a racial grouping,it's a LINGUISTIC classification for the various people's who inhabit regions of east & southern Africa.



The NOBLE people of Sudan,Tchad & Niger are NOT and never will speak a bantu language.

Somalis are quick to (1) label you ugly, (2) do everything in their path to shield you from cameras or exclaim there must be bantu blood in there, even if no relation exists. We know how Somalis "stereotype.'' Bantu languages originated from the Niger-Congo if I'm not mistaken.We know West Africans aren't Bantu. I don't know why Bantu got a bad rep. Was it due to their expansion into East and South Africa? Probably.I heard in the Congo they were to blame for the disappearing numbers of Mbenga (Pygmy), partly from intermarriage and killing. I didn't bunch them together at all. Not once here did I claim that they're the same. That's why I always say "West Africans/Bantus" .....because there IS indeed a difference between them. Which I clearly acknowledge and see as it is.

And no, half of Somalis don't look "straight up Bantu"....they look Somali and they have Somali features. I know many Somalis who resemble Hindis yet you NEVER claim that half of Somalis look like they're Hindi people. They're neither. We are Somalis and there are indeed some variations in our appearances. But we're still Somalis at the end of the day.
