Re: Tareke Ethiopia Somalia War of 1977
So what you're saying is, Cuba had no objectives and was dictated to by the USSR in a war they were forced to enter and gained nothing from?
Is that what you're saying?
are you saying they had no aims of their own and had everything dictated to them by their owner, the USSR?
Perhaps,could be.????
A cuban author said:Castro told Siad Barre:We dont have anything to talk,Moscow made the decision and we have to destroy Somalia,so we did it.
This is a posibility,Moscow knew we love war, rape and glory and for Allah we achieved it in Ogaden sands.

It's fair to say Russia defeated Cuba, then, since it forced them to enter the war against their will, made them lose 400 of their men and eventually left them high and dry when the US came calling
USSR - 400
Cuba - 0
Long live mother Russia

Is this nothing?
Ww changed the history of Horn of African,we destroyed Greater Somalia dream. Is this nothing?
We become a powerful country with a powerful army like Somalia in 1978 in a "Failed State",Is this nothing?
Ethiopia ruled Somalia until 2006 with its pro-warlords who ruled almost all Somalia(Somaliland,Puntland(Yusuf) and southern Somalia)
Nothing:We defeated Somali Army and WSLF and Ogaden still belongs to Ethiopia,we saved Mengistu? So what you're saying is, Cuba had no objectives and was dictated to by the USSR in a war they were forced to enter and gained nothing from

I'm saying that the USSR indirectly killed 400 Cubans by forcing them to fight a war on their behalf a continent away

The cubans and soviets have saved his regime
http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/198808/havana-military/2This documentary also include exclusive interviews with the former US president Jimmy Carter, the Cuban dictator Fidel Castro & former Russian officials in which they confess that the Ethiopians were dependent on military support & with out the USSR & allies Ethiopia would have been defeated by Somalia!
Castro, despite his substantial commitment in Angola, rushed a dozen regiments to Addis Ababa, and these disciplined forces undoubtedly turned the tide and saved the fraternal Mengistu regime.

Nomad:
I'm saying that the USSR indirectly killed 400 Cubans by forcing them to fight a war on their behalf a continent away
So,I dont care that, we won the war, that is the important,we defeated Siad Barre and WSLF.

Cubans didnt fight in such war.
At its peak, in 1978 and 1979, the Cuban expeditionary force in Ethiopia consisted of some 24,000 fighting men, and about 11,000 are still there today, mostly in garrison duty. The Cubans did repulse the Somalis, they did help erase internal guerrilla bands, but they did not-and will not-resolve the Eritrean imbroglio. (See "The Loneliest War," July, 1988, Atlantic, for more on Eritrea.)
There is a controversy because experts are not sure if cubans fought or not in Eritrea, but most of them dont agree with it,cuban sources say:cubans didnt fight in Eritrea.

You misunderstood the question, but never mind.
I understand you perfectly, youdont understand my point of view I dont care how many men I can lost in a War,i dont care If I fight for Russia and Germany or Rome, the important is:You must win the war,if you win the war, that is the important.Victory is all, human life is just a way to achieve it,understood?
We won the Ogaden War, I have tell you this 1.000 times, because we defeated Somalia and WSLF on the field and Ogaden still believe to Ethiopia,Mission acomplished.
For military experts the important is if you won a war and we won it,I dont care cuban casualties only victory.

Are you changing the topic of the conversation, why?
You can not change the topic of the conversation so quicly.
Are you afraid?
I think we can not finish the topic about Ogaden War because it is not clear yet.
When we solve the ogaden issue we can talk about Eritrea.
Now show me your sources about Ogaden War or you give up.
