Actually the region probably started out as basically Caucasoid (Cushitic type, slightly transitional to negroid), then got Negroized over time by admixture with Nilotics and more recently with Bantus.

Yo at the end of the day 'Black' and 'non-Black' is a social construct. 'Black' means a dark person from the Sub-Sahara Africa.

There was mention of us as early as the 7th century when Islam set foot on the Somali hemishpere in Saylac and even earlier than that. Let me just dismiss that we have Berber lineage, heck that is even lower than us claiming Arab lineage, cause Arabs have a richer history.
