intresting...i hadn't heard of them before just now, according to google they are a tribe that is politically dominant in chad and are a minority in sudan (please correct if I'm wrong btw)....are they also called the Zaghawa people? also do you guys speak arabic? and are you also muslim?

Beri from North Darfur speak arabic moreso than native tongue.Its mutual in most of Darfur however.

As many have stated here.I feel the term is to inclusive.I'm not distancing myself from blacks because I hate them or feel they're beneath me.I do so because I have a Diin/culture/nation/language intact that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Labeling myself a color spits in the face of my ancestors.Diasporan Blacks embrace it because they have nothing else,being BLACK is the ONLY thing they've ever known.Cool story for them,but no thank you I'll pass.

Labels I dislike them.If asked to identify I am Muslim,Sudani,Darfuri

I grew up in Portland, Maine.Moved to Florida in my late teens.
You wouldn't think,but theirs alot of Africans in Maine.My childhood bros were mostly all Somali,I miss those dudes .Self explanatory.
