Ask your Somali friends to interpret for you how the citizens of Mogadishu are welcoming their government soldiers. Respect the Somali people's government!

Ximan please take pictures of them welcoming the troops, looking happy etc.

Either all of the Somali lands belong to all Somalis or Xamar belongs to the original inhabitants.

No Double standards.

Nobody has a problem with Xamar being a Hawiye city - but you'll have to stop calling it the capital of Somalia.

I for one, like any PLer you will speak to, do not consider Xamar a capital of any kind on a social or political basis and we make zero social or historical claim to the city. The only time we recognize Xamar as our capital is when the world throws money at the TFG - then of course we get our cut and walk it back to Garowe but you can understand how that works. We respect the reality of Xamar being a Hawiye city and very few MJs have invested there since the war. We cut our ties and rebuilt everything back home. The Hawiye in Xamar should go and preach to Galguduud, Shabelle Dhexe, Bay, Bakool, Shabelle Hoose, Gedo, Jubba Dhexe and Jubba Hoose to remind those people that Xamar is no longer a national capital and that it never will be and any chance of returning to a national capital is obsolete. Then the entire Somali people will heal and move on separately and peacefully.

Monk of Mogadishu please don't say that the village Garoowe is the capital of Somalia.

Mogadishu has a population of 2.2 million people whilst the village Garoowe has a population of six thousand people

Mogadishu is huge, with the largest economy in Somalia and soon to be the largest economy in East Africa.

I know it hurts but take it easy bro.

He can't take it easy, what else is he going to jerk off to?
Funny how on another thread he was claiming Ali Saleebaan own Mogadisho. The guy is mental and that's putting it mildly.

Asalamu calaykum

Topics/subjects particularly like this one can be very educational and very forward thinking, however there are some who just join the debate without having the intention of contributing any form of positive input whatsoever. Its a shame really...

in regard of this topic. People need to differentiate between Mogadishu and the somali capital city

Mogadishu.
Many have already spoken my feelings about Mogadishu and her status as the capital and i have to say that i have to agree with those who said that xamar is a hawiye city. And that darod and Isaaq have not really any claim and have to accept that fact. Isaaq and harti are accepting this, it seems that one particular sub clan has other ambitions.

Somalia capital city

To be very sincere I believe that status is the highest rank any somali qabiil can get in terms of lasting rank. Unlike the presidential seat or any other seat, the capital status is a longterm commitment and will not be benifited by an individual or small number of people but by an entire city and the surrounding sub sub clans of that city. While those people have advantages above others, they have to understand that the capital city is not and I'll REPEAT it's not a clan city. I believe hawiye have been given that honour once before and they, YES THEY, have not behaved very honoured to be frank.

Mogadishu was once a city for all Somalis whether from djibouti, jigjiga or gariisa. Hawiye took that status away by force and destroyed her beauty and innocence and today it will be liberated by all somalis. And inshaallah it will be liberated and once it security returns that city should be left alone for this people.

As a harti man I don't want the capital status for a city in mudug nugaal sool sanaag or Bari. Because I don't want to share
Those place with the entire world and I am also confident that my people can and will build those cities without serious governmental hand.

I propose hargeysa kismaayo baydhabo or a brand new city. In another words u can't have the capital recognition and not share it.

Please forgive me if I have offended you, for that was not my intention

amnesty has been offered to al shabab http://af.reuters.com/article/worldNews ... 2O20110809
MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somalia offered an amnesty to militants still fighting in the capital Mogadishu on Tuesday, three days after the country's president declared victory over the insurgent al Shabaab group, which has withdrawn most of its combatants from the city.

It was the first time the interim government, which has struggled to quash a four-year Islamist rebellion, had offered immunity to al Shabaab fighters.

"The Transitional Federal Government of Somalia has offered a general amnesty to insurgent fighters remaining in Mogadishu who give themselves up and renounce violence," the government said in a statement.

Some experts say al Shabaab's pull-out merely extends the government's hold on the capital by a few districts, but will do little to bring tangible peace to the rest of the anarchic country and may herald a new wave of al Qaeda-inspired attacks.

The amnesty did not appear to extend to al Shabaab fighters outside the capital. The al Qaeda-affiliated militants control much of southern Somalia where 2.8 million people face starvation because of drought and conflict.

Al Shabaab called its retreat from Mogadishu tactical and said its bloody struggle to topple the Western-backed government would continue.

On Monday afternoon, a suicide car bomb detonated prematurely 13 km south of Mogadishu, and Captain Ndayiragije Come, a spokesman for the African Union (AU) peace keeping force, AMISOM, said it was heading to the capital.

Gun-battles raged overnight in at least two northern districts of Mogadishu and residents said government forces and al Shabaab also traded volleys of mortar rounds.

very smart...

most alshabaab have been conscripted and are not in the fight to make sure they get fed..
there will soon be more than a trickle of deserters.

and you have to treat these deserters well, and then broadcast this, to encourage even more...
