This coming from an individual who walks around with a non-existent flag?

it exists, you may not like it but it does,
and you cant do anything about it.
I have nothing against a future TFG.
only this one is not in the greater interest of somalia as a whole.

Re: Somali govt offers 'pardon' for Islamist fighters
Again this coming from an individual who wants their own hegemony state?
Re: Somali govt offers 'pardon' for Islamist fighters
well I personally think the Arabic script is more of a closer match to Somali phonetics, but that's just me.
I'm fine with Islam, I just think there were prioriites and I didn't think getting a 'kunya' (Abu Hebel) was an immediate priority for Somalis...........neither was providing reason after legitimizing reason for Ethiopia to so directly intervene in Somalia, bankrolled and financed by the US at that.
gurey,
the ICU leaders were clearly eager to appeal to foreign support, whether Eritrea, Egypt, or the Arab states..........even Sayid Mxmd Cabdille Xassan could have told them not to rely on the Arabs for support...........whoever relies on Arabs for support is doomed
I don't think independence, or lack thereof was even their biggest problem, it was the fact that there was no centralization of ideology, control, command...............it was like a confederation whose views conflicted violently..........that's a recipe for disaster.

Gedoboy you are trying to reinvent the wheel. Great Somali linguists who are superior to you in intelligence and commitment exhausted this issue. Galaal the habar jeclo linguist even made a type writer in Arabic but he concluded it was unworkable.
How are you going to write your name in Arabic?
Geydo in Arabic because they dont have the sound of your second letter in their language.
They dont have "O" either.

I have also been an objective spectator for a long time and have no hopes invested in either.
but whether we like it or not, the treasonous snake was just smarter, or more adept politically

Cilmiile,
I'm not trying to belittle any Somali linguist and they have given the issue MUCH more thought than I have.
However, I'm saying if it can work in Latin script I'm sure it could work in Arabic.........English doesn't have xa, cayn for example yet we write it.

We have coopted the X and C and put them to an unintuitive use. Brilliant use.
But if you adopt the Arabic vowel rendering scheme you will have 5 different vowel denotations. If you show the vowel denotation as in the Quran, Reading and Writing Somali would be cumbersome. If you leave them off, it will be unintelligible. Trust me, Bigger brains than you and me have laboured over this and tossed it out the window.

Cilmiile,
I always thought it was due to political reasons that Latin was adopted.........that and the fact that Somali civil servants understood either Italian or English.

Re: Somali govt offers 'pardon' for Islamist fighters
all im saying is that it was used in the past, it can be used now.
im not advocating its use now.
if you think of it, the latin script is derived from the greak script which is derived from the phoenician script,
and phonecian and the arabic script have the same shared source.
an added bonus for us is that latin script made the internet more accesable to somalis,
and now every little tuulo has its own website.

Gedo Boy
It was adopted because it was the most technically suitable. Guddiga Af Soomaaliga ayaa loo xilsaaray and their recommendation was to adopt Shire Jaamac Axmed's script with minor alterations. He would have written his name as Shire Jaamac Achmed. X was substituted for the more cumbersome 'ch'.
