let me just point something out.....its sunnah to circumstise woman but it aint obligatory..n its xaram to mutalise..meaning all the sewing up the vagina n sidh..n cutting the clit off..sorry to be explicit! laakin its cultral n blatenly xaraam..the sunnah is jus to make the clitors bleed a tiny bit like when u prick a needle into ur finger n thats it..waxaan kale is blatenly xaaram !
how is it sunnah when none of the prophets wifes had it done? and Fatima (ra) the prophet's (scw) daughter never had it done either?
the whole "circumcision" being sunnah, is based on ONE hadeeth, and even there the prophet didnt specifically condone it, he just told the circumsizer to not cut excessively as this would be more pleasurable for BOTH the husband and the wife.
now lets put together the reasons as to WHY women are circumsized, the prime reason as mukhtaar already stated, is to keep women AWAY from sex by cutting off the clitoris.
let's examine the clitoris, it is the ONLY part of the human body (male and female) which is created specifically for the task of making sex pleasurable. in addition to that, in Islam a woman can divorce her husband if he does not satisfy her sexual needs. thereby we come to the conclusion, that satisfying sexual needs is an integral part of marriage. at what point then, can the cutting/poking/burning/piercing of the clitoris to DENY women sexual pleasure, be united with the idea of marital sex being something Allah has put between a man and his wife for them to enjoy.
circumcision of women should be avoided, it is not something practiced in the Gulf, it is of pharaonic origin hence the name, it's an act which goes against the basic nature of Islam. and also, you're tampering with God's creation, what makes you think we can make the female body better by cutting off bits and pieces.
buff gyal, walaal, if the circumcision of women is not an islamic practice, NO part of female circumcision is, even this so-called sunnah one. best thing for you to do is to ask your local sheikh, doesnt matter which one or which nationality he is, just ask and you'll have the answer.
by the way, female circumsion has been banned in Egypt after the grand mufti declared it "un-Islamic" i'll send you the edict they sent out if you're intrested, just PM me.
