We were both in a hurry and that was the last I ever saw of him.

He struck me as a very sincere, driven, man. I liked and trusted him.

Yeah, because Siad Barre was the perfect man who never sent his troops to rape the clanswomen of his "enemies". He wouldn't stoop as low as to kill the people he was meant to serve.
