I suspect mainly people who lie about being born in xamar--tend not to 'wish' to have been born there but evasively try to hide their qabil from---inquiring minds like yours.Xamar was a city for every qabil, so naturally a good answer to use when one needs discreetness.As to reer waqooyi, reer konfur, reer xamar, elai, ogaden eryaah who are usually busted by their accent--if they claim to be born in xamar-- well--those ones possibly are concucting to rob you or something.

Believe it or not, I do have my real and the original Birth Certificate from Banadir Hospital but I never brag about it.

I wasn't even born in Somalia let alone Xamar. All I remember of Xamar was from the late 80s up to the Civil War. It was, even 3rd world/african standards, crappy city... poorly planned, poorly run, poorly managed, horrible roads, pathetic airport, under-utilized seaport... symbolizing darood incompetency and geeljirinimo. Only redeeming feature of the city was the fact it was sitting on historical Mudulood land - Huriwaa, Yaaqshiid, Wardhiigley etc.

Lug, What can I say I too claim Xamar, Isbitall Madiino too! and like Hannah still have my Birth Certificate in Af talyaani and Somali.

I wasn't born in that city though my father and his siblings were born there, my siblings were all born there as well.

I was born in Kismayo, Isbitaalka uunlaaye , And I don't know which part of the city that hospital is located, perhaps calaleey? I was a year Old when the family moved back to Muqdisho, I was the odd one in the family having a birth certificate which said "Born in Kismayo"

I was close to being born in Xamar, at the time my family had a house in Hodan neighborhood, but we have this tradition in my house, that when ever a child is born, the mother goes back to our traditional home in Jamame and gives birth there. Don't ask me about it, just an old tradition.
