Somali Opposition conference opens in Asmara
Mogadishu 06, Sept.07 ( Sh.M.Network)-Somali Islamists and opposition leaders are meeting in the Eritrean capital Asmara to create a common front against the transitional government in somalia.
About 300 delegates are attending the talks with observers from the European Union, Arab league and the UN.
Islamist leader Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, said to be leading the Islamic courts union is attending the conference as reuters told in brief news on the on the internet.
Former speaker of the Somali parliament, Sharif Hassan Sheik Adan told Shabelle on Thursday, that many well known leaders are taking party the conference in Asmara including delegates from international community.
Sheik Adan added that the conference started and will be discussed the future of Somalia, former speaker said that many prominent of Politicians and leaders around the country attending.
The opposition's conference in Asmara announced to be held before two month, and attending parts from government's opponent and ousted Islamic courts union leaders.
Delegates at the meeting who include the civil society members in the Diaspora say they want to free Somalia from Ethiopian occupation.
Mogadishu has seen a surge in violence since the Ethiopian-backed government troops routed Islamists last December.
It was one week ago, when the national peace conference ended in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, after nearly two month with out full progress, as many experts say
