Dayum I didn't know Baardheere was mareexan territory. I was watching a piec on TV the other day talking about CIA { not so secret} flights to Somalia delivering money to local warlords for their support.

Musika man. Gedo is a very safe area. The only somewhat dangerous city in Gedo is Beled Hawa, because people cause trouble and then cross the border because its a border town. Theres no warloards, Isbaaro etc. in Gedo and in particular Bardhere. Bardhere is ruled by the Ugaas of SADE, and the council of elders. Its been ruled by them every since. Marka feel free to buy land.

U can not say the whole region of GEDO is safe. The territory is big and I only call an area safe when you can drive to any corner without having a weapon in hand.

There is no SAFE region in Somalia period. There are relatively safe cities but not regions.

I was saying its safe relative to some of the other volitile areas of Somalia, not safe by civilized world standards. In that case every city and region in Somalia falls below those standards.

El Waq (Somalia) is a dangerous area saxiib. You have to watch out for tuugo, shifta, fueding clans and other issues.


But to continue on the whole "Aniga ba leh" arguement, I can tell you 100% of the Somali towns, villages and cities are paltry compared to the their equivalents in East and Central Africa.

I am always taken aback when I see images of these dusty places and wonder what is there to fight over. The land is vast and more can be made from cooperation rathern than senseless conflict which is a costly endeavor and hurts the bottom line of all qabiils.

Basically the way it works in Gedo is the closer to the border, the more business activity and the more prosperous, but at the same time it is more dangerous and volatile. Places like Luq, Bardhere, Garbaharey etc. have always been, and still are peaceful cities, RELATIVE to Somalia ofcourse. Furturmore, the Marehan, Rahanwein, Awliayahan, of Gedo, Middle Jubba and Bay/Bakol have always got along, and are very peaceful people traditionaly. Unfortunately the civil war had disasterous affects on Somalis. Former passive, peaceful people have learned how to fight for their survival, and cities have become homogeneous, as people cannot live with each other. People talk about peace, but the social ills, destruction and distrust might take generations to heal.

Its a wild frontier town.
