Koronto,
A friend of mine went to school overseas in India on a scholarship program from the Indian government to his government for free.
He graduated and worked in his country for several years and then immigrated here.
He took the exam you are talking about and passed it. He was forced to do a residency for 2 years and got his license.
He is now currently making top dollar due to him not accruing any debt.
At the end of the day, it all depends on whether you want to practice here in the States or elsewhere.

Posh,
You seem to know what you are talking about, are you interested in the medical field?
Abdi,
That will be Plan C. I work with Doctors everyday at my place of work, I've seen every kind there is to see, I yet have to meet a Somali doctor. Which gave me the confidence to go for it. No more chickening out!

Actually my major is Business Finance.

I could easily get a degree in microbiology or any science degree but I want to major in Business Finance while still doing the pre-med requirements. Double the load.
That's how you do it. Most people think you have to be a Pre-med major to go to Med School, but you can even be English major and still get in as long as you meet the requirements.
Optometry always struck me as being a promising field. But Primary Care/Family Medicine beats specializing anyday!
Yes brah, in fact by applying to med school with a non-science related degree you are looked at more favorably and obtain more points in the admissions process. They know just the requirements to apply for med school can add up to a science degree but by majoring in something else they will know you would have to have worked harder and have been more determined. In other words, someone who is bound to succeed in med school. Plus it's a bonus on the "all around student" departnebt all admissions counselors are so interested in.
If you are interested in primary care the University of Washington in Seattle is number 1 in the nation. You should take a look at it.

U like to glorify everthing that is khashin right?
I'd hope not. While I've abandoned qablayad entirely, with the grace of Allah, even if I did talk about it, I would speak about it with knowledge, documentation and evidence the way these guys do. If your gonna talk about something at least be knowledgable about it, instead of wildly and frantically spewing out venom on a topic of which you have no knowledge.

DS,
As a minority student we have an advantage over the whites, not to mention if you write an impressive personal biography and you charm the admissions commitee during the interview, then you will definetly be a man on fire.
Check this site:

I work with the CDC here in Atlanta and I have not seen a single Somali doctor to date that practises here, we had a visiting female OBGYN last year, but she came from Boston. We also had a Somali Medical student doing her residency at Emory Clinic 2 years ago.

No, she was an older woman, from Mass General. Very motherly and sharp as a pin. I know of a Somali couple in NY who are both Family Medicine. And a Cardiologist in South Carolina. They exist, but they are scattered all over the place.
King-Awdal,
Congratulations! I was the graduating class of 2002. Good luck with your studies. What do you think about UGA compared to GSU?

The one at Egleston near Emory? My bad, I've never met him. I've been there a few times as a visitor.

Ismahan, I've been qablayad free for a couple of weeks now and it feels wonderful, getting rid of the cuqdad. You should try it.
Qablaayad is especially ugly and foolxumo, when girls are involved such as yourself, engaging in qablayad, fadhi ku dirir with ragga all day long. Not cool.
