Thats what you get for labeling ogaadeens civilians as territorists, and subjecting them to unlawful torture, incarceration and handing them over to the Ethiopian government against their will .Your so called government has been warned over and over not to hand over any ogaadeen civilians to the Ethiopian govenment,but it appears that our warnings have fallen on deaf ears.This sort of inhumane act will not be tolerated and further action to ensure our people will being will be taking places.

O.N.L.F Statement On Handover Of Ogaden civilians In Somalia To Ethiopian Troops.

The so-called Somaliland administration of Dahir Riyale, in direct violation of the 1951 United Nations convention on refugees, has handed over seven private citizens of Ogaden to the same Ethiopian armed forces responsible for war crimes in Ogaden. This act violates international law and makes the Riyale administration complicit to war crimes in Ogaden.

These individuals were handed over to Ethiopian armed forces on October 13 at 6am local time in northern Somalia against their will and at gunpoint where Ethiopian troops loaded them on to trucks. Their current whereabouts in Ogaden are unknown and their
families in northern Somalia were not informed of their forced repatriation.

The Riyale administrations forced repatriation of our people to Ogaden, where they have a well founded fear of persecution, has become commonplace in recent years and will no longer be tolerated.


The ONLF calls on the international community to hold the Riyale administration accountable for the treatment of our people fleeing persecution in Ogaden. We further call upon the United Nations to prevent such acts in the future by putting in place mechanisms to safeguard the lives of our citizens who have sought refuge in neighboring Somalia.

The ONLF has warned the Riyale administration that such acts targeting our civilian population would not be tolerated but it appears that our warnings have
fallen on deaf ears. As such, the Riyale administration will be responsible for any and all
consequences of this act. It will prove to be a miscalculation.
