I love the architecure of Yemen, but it's an earthquake away from coming down hard.

The society is strange and conflicted. On the surface, I found it to be like Saudi Arabia. Very conservative, very Islamic. Imagine my shock when I was taken to a strip tease bar (the girls were half Arab and half Ethiopian / Eritrean) that was hidden!!!!! I was shocked. Girls also were giving me little pieces of paper with their telephone numbers on them (How we were suppose to converse I don't know, since they didn't speak English).

Loved the weather in San'a though. Cool, high plain. Nice.

Yemen's water and economic problems, though, are deep seated, and corruption is rife. I don't see a good future for the place, but it did have a certain charm.
