The accident happened on the road between Xamar and Afgooye in daytime. I was coming back from Afgooye with relatives, and we saw the damaged LandCruiser. That was in 1986.

Hassan Abshir Faarax, who was mayor of Xamar at that time, was driving him. Some say it was a suicide mission, he purposely got into that horrible accident.

Wadaniweyn, nacas. Maxaad Somalia ka taqaan if you said Mama Khadiijo was Majeerteen? Naag Mareexaan,r eer Diini, reer Kooshin bay ahayd nacasyaho.

Somaliweyn was a noble dream, Reer Waqqoyi(Isaaq) invested more heavily in it than any other Somali clan, from giving up our independence in 1960 to join Italian Somalia and form the Somali Republic to moving in great numbers to DJebouti prior to independence voting in favor of independence from the French to the fight in for Ogadenia where many bright and young Isaaqs lost their lives to free Kililka 5'naad from Ethiopia only for Siyad to give up the fight, first of many mistakes Barre made, after what Isaaq did for the war efforts and the Ethiopiaan bombing of Hargeisa and Burco, many Isaaq mothers lost their loved ones and the war was lost due to the lack of planning on Barre's part, he pulled out and it made alot of Isaaqs question Somaliweyn and if its worth the trouble at all. Then came Barre's second big mistake when high ranking Isaaq Generals in the SNA were excuted when they returned home from the war, this angered Isaaqs and some defected and formed anti-Siyad movements and eventually the most succesful Somali rebel group the SNM was formed officially in London 1982. What followed the formation of the SNM is what led to the fall of Siyad, the idiotshe appointed as Gaashaanle sare(Gaasdhagoole) Gaani, Morgan, Dafle, Faalso, were mostely Majeerteen and Dhulbahante ignorants who put the final nail in the Somaliweyn coffin

I must have read somewhere that when the accident occured one of his bodyguards ran into a hospital, hijacked the doctor and rushed him to the scene without him having any equipment Shocked I find that odd....don't know how credible that source is.
And is it true that when people rushed to the car to "help" the president some of his guards sprayed them with bullets???

XidigtaJSL,

How long do you think it will take for the wounds of all this to heal? 2 generations? 3?

As for MSB, one of his biggest mistakes was not reeling in some of the idiots in his Dawlad. A few induviduals actually were the ones who butchered Somaliweyn, and MSB as president has to take some of the blame admittingly. Lakin hada maxaa xaal ah? Also did you just say Ethiopia bombed Burco and Hargeisa at one time? Shocked

Yes. Hargeisa was nightly bombed by the Ethiopians in 77/78 because it was closer to the Ethiopian border than Mogadishu in the South, , there is this joke around Waqooyi the Xbashi airplanes bombed Hargeisa and the mad Reer Burco crowds complained why didnt they bomb us too Laughing

How long it will take?

With the way the politicians are conducting themselves in Mogadishu and Baydhabo I say we are unlikely to see an end to this cycle of violence anytime soon, especially with the TFG(Tuugta-Fadaraha-Gunta)

The best solution would be a two state government for Somaliland and Somalia

Yup but that was in 1984 and was a retilition against the Samaroons who were fighting the Ethopians in Somali Galbeed and after the Military crack down on Habar Afan they flooded into Awdal fleeing the Ethopian's.

First of all stop blaming Siad for the Ogaden war. We took over Harrar and our tanks were blazing towards Addis Ababa before the Communist world struck down on us.

Secondly, even Caabudwaaq was bombed in 1977. My grandma was there and I have heard enough stories about that time.

Did u guyz expect ur cities not be bombed while ur in a war with someone next door to ya and the part of history i have been able to find and read about that war. all mostly agree on that somalia lost the upper hand when the soviets cut the ammunition and the Cubans and soviets joined the war. Confused

I think I was responding to Xiddigta who tried to make it seem like only his cities were bombed, thereby making himself look like the only people who sacrificed something for the war.

Xiidgta,

Remember that faggat Abdullahi Yusuf came to Balanbale in '79 as SSDF with columns of Ethipian troops and extirminated so many Marehan. As for the war strategy its easy in retrospect to point faults in the strategy. Lakin overall, the Ogaden war was a smashing success as the SNA were a stones throw from Addis. Unfortunately Russia and the Warsaw pact came to Eitho's aid and the rest was history. Look at this unbelievable footage Cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LJn3nRu ... ed&search=

Well the only thing Somaliland is missing is recognition. Lakin admittiidly it is a defacto Gov't as we speak. As for the rest of Somalia, its pretty much fcked and theres no solution. I think the only options now is for Somalis in the diaspora to pull their money together, build their regions, start institutions etc. I don't think there will be a Somali Gov't in our lifetime.
