This tradition of men folding their arms and sitting around while their wives break their backs is un-Islamic, the Prophet (saw) used to help his wives with the housework and always took care of his own needs e.g. he used to sow his own clothes, wash them, etc.
Your wife is not your servant and the fact that women do housework is a choice, you can never divorce your wife because she refused to do housework, because it is not one of the requirements of Nikaah, it is actually a favor she's doing for her family.
Educate theses faraxs!!I dont think they see it that way. The only time they use Islam is to justify marrying a second wife and not cooking or cleaning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He treats the kids with good rewards when they get good grades, be good in school, etc. He is the best brother/son a mother/sibling could ever have. Plus, I know all of these girls oo ka daba naageeya (they all like him)
He is a good student in college, makes money, and still manages to go out with his boys and girlfriend
I wonder how he does all of that!

I agree but then what if one day xalimo is not there i.e gone on holiday, in hospital and or something like that what happens? and you also have kids maybe? Would you buy all your food? it is both expensive and you soon get tired.
Personally I am a good cook and a fast one as well so I wont even waste my time to let a farax cook for me. But I think it is for your own sake that you learn important skills like cooking, cleaning and tyding up!!!

Leila,
Are you kdding me? How can my Xalimo go to holiday alone and leave me with the kids? If she is in hospital, what happened to her younger sister? She should come and takeover from where she left (except of course the bed) And if push comes to shove and she doesn't have a sister, then I will be obliged to be the take-out champ of that neighborhood until Xalimo recovers

Sri
Modern xalimos need time to themselves that means leaving the farax behind to look after the family all by himself and with a journal of to-do-list on daily basis!
As asking for younger sister that is not an option! unccepatble offcourse!
Chap of the neighborhood - are you asking for divorce or something
Anyway you need these skills and it will come handy one day. So get into the kitchen and get dirty Sri!!!!!!!!!!it is part of becoming independent and self reliant.

Alla maxay kibreen nimankani,
One question for you guys..Those of you who won't cook...
Do you still want your wive to be the breadwinner of the family or you are taking care of the bread?
Waxay Somaalidu tidhaahdaa " Karis xun iyana ku la"...Ogaada if you are not willing to give a hand your wife, you will be dealing with a tired wife later on...Hadhowto markay xanjo iska calaashato, ama ay iska disho kaneeco saaran iyadoo ay hawli socoto yaan la xanaaqin oo la odhan" Naagtii way igu filaan weydey"! Naag daalan ma fiicna habeenkii...
Helwaa,
Abaayo cunto inay nin iyo naag toona kasoo kamkamto maaha...Waa karaahiyo qof dharkiisa ay cuno kasoo urto...Anigu waxaan aqaanaa nin naagtiisii ku furey, "Waxay igula soo seexatay dharkii ay cuntada ku karisey"!!!

Re: men & cooking?
I have cooked for myself for the past month even bringing my lunch to work......Last month was the first time I used the oven at my apartment
Now I am confident, cooking is just like a formula....I make my own Basmati rice & Chicken Tikka, Lamb, Fish etc.
Right now I wash my own clothes and cook my own food, so I don't need a wife for that. I even took care of my little sister for a whole summer when I was 11.
But insha'Allah I will bring in all the money and I will pay for my wife's college, so ofcourse she will do most of the housecleaning & cooking.
Ofcourse I will help her if she's exhausted or needs help, but I can't say it would be my first responsibility.
I have a feeling the majority of women are lying to us....they don't want a man who can cook.....that is not one of the attributes that causes a woman to love a man.
If a woman cooks & cleans for a man, she can earn his love & make her appear more feminine. However, a man can cook for a woman and she may even start to think worse about him.
