Of Course Majerteen have a right to brag about Puntland much like Mudulood have the right to brag about Jowhar and El Dere. I dont know what you as a Marehan have to brag about![/quote]
Twisted,
I'll applaud any Jowhar, Celdheere post war development the same way I've applauded Puntland, and I've commended Abgal on Ceeldheer before. Its just simpletons like this Kramer dude, who wants to compare Somalias capitol for all those years to other tuulos turned cities as an 'achievement'.

What you people don't understand is that the rest of Mogadisho is safe and peaceful. Only three districts swarmed with the Shabab rodents have been the source of the main problems. loool.

Luq and co,
Mogadishu was built by the Somali governments between 1960-1991, so were cities like Berbera, Hargeisa, Bosaso, Kismanyo.
Hargeisa and Mogadishu have been levelled to the ground. Only key infrastructures like airport, seaport and other things remained. But as for electricty, water, and other crucial infrastructure..they were either destroyed or looted in the case of Mogadishu. In Hargeisa some have been destroyed by the war but not as much as Mogadishu.
Still despite this, Mogadishu's key infrastructure have been restored, key infrastructure like electricty in the city, running and clean water, telephone/internet infrastructure etc. Even despite the closure of main port and airport, the city has been served by a dozen of airports and seaports, all making more profits then in any other Somali city. Because of this, clinics, schools, playgrounds, hotels etc have been built all taking advantage of the prospering economy of the city.
So post-1991 Mogadishu, although still bearing the scars of the civil war, has been doing better than cities that did not witness any conlfict, cities like Bosaso, Kismanyo (urban fighting) etc. Every development in post-1991 Mogadishu is the work of the shrewd business groups not of a ''government''.
So I fail to understand the logic of mitigating every development in Mogadishu by silly arguments like ''it was built by the state'' while infrastructures like ports and aiports etc in Hargeisa, Bosaso, Kismanyo are supposedly built by the people after 1991.
The only thing Mogadishu needed was peace, stability and good governance. When it gets those three in check, there will be no East-African city doing better than Mogadishu economically.
The future is indeed bright.

Tigre2003,
No need to separate people based on clan. People should be separated based on their Somali characteristics and believes, like on things as bravery and patriotism.
One who collaborates with the Ethiopian occupation is not the same as one who sacrifices his life and wealth in fighting this occupation. Eventhough the two persons belong to the same sub-sub-sub clan.
Viva the ones fighting the Ethiopian occupation!
Death to the cowards and traitors.

Dude, What the fuk are you bragging about? SERIOUSLY
Tuulos that had more camels then people, that had no water wells have now got Electricity, Internet access, hotels, schools, hospitals. Buuhoodle is an example, The somali governments between 1960-1991 never spent a single shilling on it, It was a dusty tuulo and look at it today. Success is not just being independent from contributions made by the government.
And of course Xamar is making more money, it has got XX times higher population the an average somali city, Regardless of how messed up it is, It will always make more money then any other somali cities.

Re: OMG Abgaal men are watching young girls play basketball.....
Executive,
The problem here is: When a school or hotel is opened in a tuulo people bragg about it....when someone like Kramer mentions the schools, hotels etc opened in Mogadishu after 1991, people come with the ''the government built the city''. And people even want to portay Mogadishu as a dead city after 1991, that has witnessed no development but only destruction. Can you see the contradiction?
Also, population is high in Mogadishu because first of all the city can sustain a high population but the most crucial thing is, the city offers business opportunities, and people make livelihoods in every way, from selling tea on the road side, to selling fruits/vegetables in bakaaraha market to having an own entreprise, to even been a shareholder in companies like the Coco cola or other small sized factories etc.
Hargeisa too has a high population, maybe twice as that of Bosaso but still economically the city is not doing as it should do, considering the population size, peace/stability it has.
Again, the only thing standing in the way of the economy of Mogadishu is lack of peace, stability and good governance.
Things that will emerge in due time.

Re: OMG Abgaal men are watching young girls play basketball.....
Somaliweyn,
I know people that go to Kismaayo every year. Everything is 99% intact since the war and the city is beautiful, and booming with almost a million residents. That being said I will NEVER bragg about anything in Kismaayo, because like Xamar, Berbera, Haregisa they were all invested in signifigantly by the previous regime. If I'm gonna brag, I'll brag about Baardheere, Caabudwaq, Beled Xaawo etc. cities that were build POST war. I'll always take my hate off the Majerten, Issaq, Abgal for at least building some stuff post war, but I won't give an IOTA of credit for anyone bragging about anything good in Mogadishu. If anything if I was a Hawiye person, I'd probably hide it, out of shame of the destruction.

Bosaso was smaller then 5thousand people in 1991.....
Xamar was the capital of all somalis....
2007 Xamar has more broken buildings then actual fixed ones and mind you they were built in the colonial era and post colonial era governments.
Bosaso was built by it's citizens and all of puntland for that matter.
