I'm with you Zul. You will be amazed at what one installment of 10k each year can do.

I am very wary of hegbads/ayutos. I have trust issues when it comes to $$$.

u know young people never make use of hegbad. its always islaamo who use it for the wrong reasons...like buy a dodge caravan or finance their dead-beat no good son's wedding..which will end in divorce after a month. lool.

Naa ma ila aragtey? Wallahi you are right. I usually get into one each each. Usually you have the one or two lady who want their money like the 1st months b/c they have a wedding coming up, they need new furniture to throw out the one they purchase last year, pain the garage and have fadhi carabi in it?........wft why would they put fadhi carbi intheir garage and have their cars sit out in the freezing temps? Walle waa yaabi. Then they ask me, and when I say things like "oh just to pay off some SL" they get shocked, like isn't your school free or something?
But you would think that a girl marrying a dude whose mother has to get into an ayuuto to pay for the wedding would be alarmed of a broke a.ss???????? lol but thats just me!

Murax,
I was living the high life at home for 2 years before Mom encouraged me to leave. I saved up a whole lot of cash to pay off my loans.
The worst decision you can do out of college is to get into a car loan.

Re: Student Loans
Man i graduated last June and have repayed the 3.5k loan i took (only one year's loan). I decided to repay as soon as i got a job and also the gov increased the rate to 4.8%, which is more than double the previous rate of 2.2%.
Alhamdulilah since i was 16 i use to work in excess of 20hrs a week, whilst still maintaining my good grades. Also in the summer and holiday season, i use to put in mad shifts.
I also lived at home during my uni years and didnt have to spend a penny on rent. Overall i was very economical and smart with my money.

I wouldnt say so. I got enough money to provide for myself and even some to waste on weekends. But I dont have enough money to spend on a silly outragous wedding so therefore my mum/dad/aunt or whoever would chip in a few pound notes. It doesn't mean Im a broke a.s.s. per se, it just means I cant be arsed to save up for a wedding in the future. Lol. I can save up for a car or a holiday cos thats for my own pleasure but I really can't get myself to save up for a potential wedding whenever that may be.
