holier than thouness applies to Christians. its meant to discredit priests, reverends and other Christian clergy. it doesnt or cannot apply to Muslims. i gather Niya was raised by Christians

I've heard of Somalis with names like Diana, Jessica, Anna etc. and none of them were Christian. Why are you so quick to judge, Unclebin?

Yes, I like "gaalo" names, from Ashlee to Heidi to Lauren *rolling my eyes*..Get the fuk out of here. There's nothing such as a 'gaalo' name. If the meaning of a name isn't 'haram', then the name isn't haram. Okay kiddo?

PHD,
Calm down bro, your wrong..Nabi Maxammed (cws) said to choose names with good meanings..
There is no such thing as gaal name..
Check this:
As for non-Arab names, there is nothing wrong in using them as names, so long as they bear good meanings in their language. Although the early Muslims were purely Arabs living in a pure Arab atmosphere, they found no harm in non-Arab names, as regards men and women. For example, "Mareyah" (the Mother of the Believers) who gave birth to Ibrahim, the son of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was known for her Coptic name.
