Re: What do u expect from ur Future wife
Rahanweyn founded the city, and lived there. The Jamaca was a religous thing and not just one clan, had a bunch of Rahanweyn clans in them. I heard some recently arrived Ogadeen lived there too, and actually were part of the jamaca. I never or heard anything about Mareehaan being there then.
Anyways the sheiks there founded there little jamaca, and all, that was cool. Then they decided to get bold and stretch some muscles. Stopped the ivory trade. Ivory was big then there and the Geledi controlled the trade routes, and they cut them off. They also attacked and capture Luuq, another ivory post, and then decided to come all the way to Barrawe. But thats all just back burner stuff.
The real war started when the sheik there wrote a letter sayin Yusuf Mahmoud and the Geledi were gaalo and there blood was halaal, then the place had to get burnt to the floor.
Boy we were powerful then.
"The Qadiriya community of the town Bardera (known locally as the jamaha) was founded on the Jubba river at the 19th century by a Rahanwiin tribesman. New settlements quickly sprang up around the mother community. The affiliates were faced with considerable hostility from surrounding tribes. They fought the Galla Boran, Gasar Gude ( Somali Rahanwiin) who were successfully defeated and there center Lugh Ferrandi destroyed, and, finally the people of Bardera extended there sway to the coast subjecting the villages of Baidoa, Molimat, and the coastal town of Brava. Thus established dominion over all tribes of the Rahanwiin tribal family. Retribution, however was to follow. The Rahanwiin recovered strength under the leadership of the Sultan of the Geledi, and after a series of battles besieged and destroyed Bardera in 1843. For some years Bardera lay deserted but began to rise again with the foundation of a new community by Sheik Muhammad Eden of the Elai (eelaay)."

"In the mid 1830's, the Baardheere movement entered militant phase, first under Shaykh Ali Dure (d. 1836) and Shaykh Abiker Aden Dhurow (d. 1838 or 1839), then under renowned Sheriif AbdiRahman and Sheriif Ibrahim. The decission to expand Jihad was probably aided by the reformers' alliance with large numbers of migrating nomads that had recently arrived in the vicinity. Expedition of armed warriors fanned out through the Doy pasture lands southeast of Baardheere and overran farming settlements just east of Baydhabo. Sheik Abiker also led expeditions against the Warday (Oromo) west of the Jubba and attacked the trading town of Luuq on the river to the north. In 1840, the reformers reached Baraawe and sacked it, forcing its inhabitants to submit to new regulations. This event is significant in that Baraawe was a noted center of Sufi learning ; both Ahmed Yusuf of the Goobroon and Sheik Madow Macalin of the Hintire had studied there."
"The dramatic success of the jihadist ultimatley provoked a concerted response from the clans of the inter river area. The focal point of the ensuing counter offensive was Yusuf Mahmoud, the Sultan of the Geledi and a direct decendent of that Goobroon shaykh who tradition remembers as having united the Geledi and driven out the Silcis. In sannad Arbaca Baardheere (The Wednesday of Baardheere), Yusuf set out Afgooye with an army of warriors from the Geledi and its allied clans. Swinging in a great arc through Dafeed and Baydhabo, his expendition gathered men from virtually every clan along its route. It is said that an army of 40,000 came arrived and camped before the walls of Baardhere. After a siege which lasted several days, Yusuf's forces stormed the town and burned it to the ground."
-The Shaping of Somali Society: Reconstructing the History of a Pastoral People, 1600-1900 by Lee V. Cassanelli. Section Titled "Baardheere Jihad"
"On the day of khamiis (Thursday), the second of the month of Mowlud A.H 1260, [A.D 1843], the armies of Yusuf Mahmoud simultaneously attacked the districts around Baardheere, burning and destroying all. Both Abdirahman Sherif and naa'ib Ibrahim Sherif fell while fighting. Ibrahim Sherif was transfixed with the lance of a Leysan warrior [the Leysan were a clan allied with Yusuf] and Abdirahman was seen no more.
As a result of the battle of Marda, the attackers entered Baardheere only after three days. Thus, the Kablallax (Darood) inhabitants of Baardheere were able to send away there women and children, who fled toward Anole beyond the Jubba. The [Digil and Rahanwiin] inhabitants did the same, but they fled towards the north towards Matagassile.
The conquerers entered, plundered everything and set fire to the town. And thus for twenty years Baardheere remained deserted."
Recorded by Italian Explorer Ugo Ferrandi told to him by the no longer militant shaykh's of Baardhere in 1891

I kinda got that part but the guys were allies with the Biimaal (who were rivals/enemies of Geledi) and the biggest ziyara thing is in Marka who was done by the Biimaal and administered by them.
Who's we anyways, Mareehaan had not come yet.

Re: What do u expect from ur Future wife
My list:
1. One who is religious.
2. One who takes care of my needs without much fuss.
3. One who cooks good.
4. One who doesn't talk a lot.
5. One who is loyal.
I hope my list isn't too demanding. :)
