Her parents are not back in Somalia. She was actually born In Toronto, I believe she is one of the kids born to somali refugee parents who came to Canada in 1990-91.

I don't want to expose myself too much but my mom knows her and her family well. She was born in 1982. She's been modelling for awhle now since 2001. She was on this Canadian modelling show called Supermodel back in 2001.
