Not true. He landed with about 500 troops and defeated small native tribes and incorporated them into his army by the time the major war came he had with him a huge army of native spaniards but also a majority of tribal fighters with him. In military tactics, he was anything but great. He nearly lost his life in the naval fight against the Othomans. His only legacy to this day remains his inhumane massacre of the native tribes in South America. He has nothing else to his name.

But it doesn't matter b/c he was intelligent. He outsmarted all those Aztecs n destroyed them did he not?

Salahudiin, May Allah Be Pleased With Him

even in the Hollywood movie "Kingdom of Heaven", they couldn't help but to cast him in a positive light and acknowledge his nobility in war and showing mercy to an enemy who showed no mercy to his people when their roles were reversed in the past...it takes true piety and fear of Allah to make that kinda choice

I don't think he was the greatest. His legacy died with him. What ever he achieved in his lifetime was taken away. The mark of a true leader is the leagcy he leaves behind. Saladin did some very good accomplishments but though amazing, were short-lived.

naaah sxb, a leader is judged by the leadership ability he has....what accomplishments are actually made and how long they last are affected by alot of variables...a bad leader might have more success than a good leader, but it doesn't mean it's a measure of their leadership capability
