Well because when a girl doesn't have college degree, she tends to be down to earth. but whenever they get that degree all of sudden, they become some sort of women's right advocate.

They totally forget the decency and how to raise a family.

It is not bad they become women's rights advocates. It is what goal they want to achieve with their advocacy, to build or to destroy, that is the difference. It must be my peculiar impression that most girls I met in college were too sweet. They all seemed dedicated to better themselves and I suspect that extends to their future families and their betterment.

I think some of the girls online whose backgrounds lack solid upbringing muddy the image of the good ones.

Salaan sare.

Salaan kabacdi, I think a lot of 'career oriented girls' are stupid. (Shid I know this is gonna sound gay) I mean really if I was a girl and I met a Guy who would offer to pay for all my expenses and He wasn't stingy why would I want to work? Don't get it. Laakin the flipside is most of us Somali dudes are lazier than a potato chip and just wanna chit chat all day at the cafe and watch soccer.
Hi aboowe.

You got a point there about Somali men being lazy "mostly". However, you cant assume the stupidity on all career oriendted girls. What makes one women happy, might not be the same for another. With that said, a married women's priority should always be of that of her home and family. Islam describes a role for both the man and woman and to avoid all confusions in a Muslim household, its best that we all follow those guidlines. My two cents. :)

  Well said!!

You all make me laugh. Since when was it an Islamic duty for a woman to 'clean a bathroom' etc. The prophet (saw) was not only under his wife's (Khadijas) employment, but he also did many household chores...theirs was truly a 50/50 relationship. Aisha (ra) was also a scolar, men were amazed by her knowledge and you dont read the asxaabas saying they felt threatened by her.

You people sound like jaahils, the women say what they think men want to hear, and the men are only thinking about themselves. I mean BIG DEAL if you earn a wage...as the statistics show, it doesnt matter how rich your husband is, there are many men who are intially very charming...but relationships turn sour, so women need an escape plan...education is key. Playing your roles and living Islamically doesnt mean selling your selves short ladies.
