why is it that so many somali decide to go to minnesota?? i understand in the uk london is the most famous and its the capital and has the most jobs and the best weather. but what makes all the somalis in the us decide to go to minnesota??

Actually Qansa is right. The cab drivers MjPride is looking down on probably make 10x more then he does in 9-5 job. MjPride I was of your mindset till I actually investigated and found out the lowest averaging Somali cab driver makes 4,000 a month. They make as much money as 4 year college graduates. Especially nowadays more and more Somalis are buying their own cabs which is worth (at least te cab plates as I have been told) 200,000. Most Somali cabbies could afford to live middle-class American lifestyle but the thing is they are on a perennial quest to attain that cab plate. Once they make enough to buy their own, they can employ others to use their cab for them and still have that 200,000 investment behind them. Understand also, the investment exponentially grows every year for them.

As usual you are a doqon. Those cabbies who work on their own free accord are making more money then you and your ignorant co-laborers.

And FYI, I know a lot of Taxi Drivers, and actually 90% of them don't own the Taxi. They just drive it for a large compnay ie Yellow Taxi, Red Taxi, Rainbow Taxi etc, and they have to pay a rent for 500/week for the cab. In most cases, after he pays the owner, and the Gas money, he will have maximum 500/week, which is very low in my opinion

Do you have how it is the uneducated, working-class whites that despise minorities the most...so are laboring Somalis the biggest haters towards others of different occupation like cabs and stuff. Dude, You keep emphasizing on money, and Walaahi the city Taxi Drivers are all known, they have been doing this job ever since I was in High school with no real advancement. I have talked to them as to why they aren't moving forward, and they all told me they don't make money and the money they make isn't enough to open a saving plan. Truck drivers are way better, they do driving, but its good job with a huge income Potential. Even the ones who manage to buy a license, they had to work for a decade and save a lot of money driving taxi 12/hrs a day/ 7 days a week.

No matter how you look at it, its a low job, there is no disputing that fact. They have no excuse to be stuck in this job at all

Waraa You don't know me like that, and You can't accuse me of something just because we disagree on things. I will be the grown one and actually stop calling you names, but the fact of the mater is TAXI DRIVERS have options( Walaahi I sent my resume to 12 different companies two weeks ago and I got 8 Interviews last). There are a lot of jobs out there, but I know why they do these kind of jobs.

Most of them live in public housing apartments, and they do it just to cheat the system. I figured out that if you drive Taxi, the Government can' verify your income, thus you will pay the standard rent of 50/month

its better to be a cabbie than spend 12 hours a day at a coffe shop....but the thing that pisses me off about the MN cabbies is that they refuse to pick up ppl with dogs, alcohol and shit...like get another job if you dont want to pick up gaals....
