We have to bear in mind that there are several types of female circumcision - but when people hear female circumcision, they automatically think about the most extreme kind. Islam is totally against this extreme form of circumcision. The removal of the entire clitoris is a form of mutilation - and this is totally unIslamic.

I was always under the impression that only firconi style circumcision is haram and male circumcision was required.

But if male circumcision is only sunah, then maybe I need to write a sensational book complaining about MGM(male genital mutilation), it would sell.

And besides, circumcision makes both men and women clean in that area.

Why cut it at all? What's the point? It isn't an Islamic custom, it is documented to have begun in the Nile Valley by the 2nd century BCE and was associated with the Cult of Amun. You'd think after Islam people would get rid of these ridiculous pagan customs.

Alchemist walaal..that scholar/s are highly respected in Saudi Arabia and in many parts of the world that site belongs to Shaykh Salman Al Odah who is from the same Salafi sect as you Hes a MAJOR scholar in Saudi ..and they have been REALLY bold to come up with this fatwa. May Allah s.w.t reward them immensely and ceaselessly amiin! Ijtihad is good for our Ummah..However intellectual stagnation is not!

I do not depend on scholars..just Allah s.w.t and His Rasul is enough for me..ofcourse if i get stuck on anything then and only then do i go to those who know. I dont claim to know it all and im not arrogant and i always go back to the Qur'an and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammed pbuh to verify any information im not familiar with. Regarding the Music issue..i just stated a fact to you that there are some scholars who have no problem with it whatsoever so long as the lyrics/videos dont go against islamic principles.


Firefly walaal..I dont agree with some of the stuff in madhabs..one of it is this issue. If respected scholars can speak out against this tradition ..why cant others? I can give you some other examples of rulings from madhabs that contradict our beautiful religion.. even what seems to be clear racism..and discrimination.. We should scrutinise all such rulings and reject them.

I think it's sort of like Christmas in the west. Back in the pagan days, people used to decorate trees with fertility symbols (the tree representing um.. male fertility) a few days after the Winter Solstice to pray to the gods for a Spring to come. When Christianity came along the Church just couldn't stop the ignorant village folk from doing it, so they just started saying it was Jesus' birthday they were celebrating, not a giant representation of a god's member.

There is a saheeh hadith from the prophet that say

when the two circumcised privates meet there is qhusl.. meaning when a circumcised man a woman have sex they should perform qhusl..

The majority of the scholars use this hadith to proof that is sunnah for the female..

Female circumcsion is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Any man or woman who does this to their daughter needs to be in jail. I have no problem reporting people if I find out what they're doing.


Alchemist, question: You would circumcise your daughter? Despite the fact she will get infections, have trouble delivering a baby, trouble having sex, trouble menstruating. Female circumcision is the worst thing you can do to a woman. These girls will grow up hating their parents for taking something so private of theirs. Its their body. Leave it as it is.

Those young girls are not 'following the sunnah' they are having the 'sunnah' imposed on them..surely this is wrong...There is no compulsion in the diin..even our parents cant force us to pray, fast, read Qur'an wear hijaab . Force is HARAAM! and counter productive.
