Somaliland Defence Forces take control of Las Qorey

Hargeisa(QARAN)-

The Somaliland Defence Forces have easily taken complete control of the town of Las Qorey in eastern Sanaag and have taken positions five kilometres east of the town.

The Somaliland Defence Forces completed their operations yesterday afternoon after the Puntland militia in the area left their positions.

According Col. Gurey Osman Salah, commander of the 116th Brigade of the Somaliland Defence Forces who are currently conducting operations in the area, "The Somaliland Defence Forces have taken complete control of Las-Qorey, the frontline positions are more than five kilometres east of the town, and all the road leading to the area are under the control of the Somaliland Defence Forces".

Col. Gurey Osman also stated that the bandits who had kidnapped a German tourist family, abducted from their stricken boat near Aden in Yemen and currently being held in the Al-Madaw mountains have been surrounded.

According to reliable sources, a delegation from local community elders who have been attempting to secure the release of the hostages have returned to the town of Badhan, and have stated that the kidnappers are still demanding a ransom for the release of the hostages.
